The Waynesburg/Highland Elementary Archery Team was notified by the NRA Foundation that it had been chosen to receive a grant in the form of arrows, targets, bows, and bow curtains.

The NRA Foundation provides grant opportunities to not-for-profit entities involved in the education of archery and firearms.

“This is the elementary team’s first support from the NRA Foundation and the members and coaches would like to express their sincere thanks for this generous donation,” said Cindy Wesley, who serves as co-coach of the team with Cabrina Denny.

The two elementary schools combined in the 2017-18 school year for the first time and were able to compete at the regional, state, national, and world NASP tournaments during this past season.

The members of the combined team are: Makenna Berry, Riley Carrier, Jordan Carter, Andrew Cash, Lily Denny, Colton Hodge, Bailey Hubble, Hayden Lane, Leighla Moore, Rubi Mullins, Shelbie Perry, Gage Phillips, Bella Snyder, Matthew Taylor, Trevor Vest, Avery Wesley and Ashlynn Wooten

“The growth of the students not only in archery, but academics, and discipline was evident and the support of the NRA Foundation enabled this to happen,” Wesley said. “Money that we do not have to use to purchase bows for students that do not have them or arrows is money we can put toward tournament fees and uniforms.”
