The worship music for Sunday, Sept. 9 was so uplifting. Joseph is utilizing many of the youth in the praise band. This is evident, not only in leading the singing, but also in playing instruments. Christina Smith, who was the worship leader and moved to the Carolinas due to jobs, was with us Sunday and sang a special – “All I Have Is Christ.” The song featured before, acceptance, and after Jesus comes into our lives. “Alleluia, all I have is Christ – Jesus is my life!” were words that remind us if we have Jesus, we need nothing else.

Mike Bastin gave a testimony on the importance of Kentucky Disaster Relief. Recently he, along with several others, went to Pennsylvania. Their team not only helped by removing mud caused by the flooding and clearing out flooded basements, etc.; they also helped people spiritually. There will be a training for Disaster Relief in Corbin on Saturday, Sept. 15 if anyone is interested in becoming a part of this ministry.

Bro. Kyle’s message was “Real Peace” from Acts 17:1-9. Everyone experiences anxiety and worries about many things. People want to know where to go to find real peace and look for it in all the wrong places.

Paul and Silas went on Paul’s second missionary trip to Thessalonica. After preaching, teaching, and witnessing for a short time, people began to hear and believe that their peace could come by recognizing King Jesus.

The Roman government, which covered a vast area in Asia and Europe, became concerned that the people would desert their Roman king and government. Determined to rid the city of these despots, they looked for Paul and Silas. Not finding them, they took Jason, who was their host, before the city council to be reprimanded.

“Where do we find real peace?” asked Bro. Kyle. “God’s grace” was the answer. Peace with God lets us experience peace of God. By laying all our worries, anxieties, and troubles at the feet of Jesus, we can experience real, ever lasting peace.

We extend sympathy and prayers to Tina Reynolds. Her cousin Janice Baker Hoskins of Crab Orchard passed away last week after a battle with cancer. We also extend sympathy and prayers to Juanita and Peggy Denny. Their sister-in-law and cousin, Brenda Denny of Broughtontown, passed away suddenly last week.

Congratulations to several in our church for their accomplishments last week. Jessie Wilson is the 2019 Distinguished Young Woman; she won interview, talent, self expression, scholastic runner up, and Friends of Lincoln County Distinguished Young Woman Award. She will go on to Lexington in January to compete in the state level.

Katherine Smith was the third runner up and won in self expression, fitness, interview, scholastic runner up, and Friends of Lincoln County DYW Award.

Sara Mae Bullock won in the interview category. Congratulations to all the young ladies on their accomplishments.

Kalyn Peek competed in the 4-H state archery shoot Sat. at Wilmore. She placed second in the 9-12 year old in the state. Congratulations.

Dates to remember: Sept. 17 – WOW rally at Watts Chapel; Sept. 29 – Doug Anderson concert at Lincoln County High School at 6 p.m.
