Distinguished Young Women ticket sales

Tickets are on sale for the 2019 Lincoln County Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program. The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m. in the Stuart Underwood Auditorium at Lincoln County High School. Tickets are $10 each and may be purchased by calling (606) 365-9782. Lincoln County Farm Bureau contests

Lincoln County Farm Bureau Outstanding Youth and Variety Contests will be held Monday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. at the Stanford Baptist Church. Interviews for Outstanding Youth Contest begin at 6 p.m. Applications are available at the Lincoln County Farm Bureau office.

Memorial High School classes to hold reunion

The Memorial High School Classes of 1967 and 1968 are having a class reunion on Saturday, Sept. 15 at Greer Park in Kings Mountain. Ladies of 1969 Memorial class to meet

The ladies of the 1969 Memorial High School Class will be meeting Friday, Sept. 7 at noon at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant.

Democratic Woman’s Club to meet

The Democratic Woman’s Club will meet Thursday, Sept. 13 at 5 p.m. at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant. The meeting will focus on support for upcoming elections. Scottie Ernst, candidate for Stanford mayor will be the speaker. All interested in hearing this speaker are welcome.

Family Art Night

Family Art Night: Butterflies will be held Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 6-7 p.m. at the LC Public Library. Bring your whole family to create some butterfly art. Trick or Treat

Stanford Baptist Church is partnering with the Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce for this year’s Trick or Treat. The event will be held at the Stanford Baptist Church Christian Life Center from 6-8:30 p.m. Inside table space is limited. Butchertown Country Day Festival

Butchertown Country Day Festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Butchertown Community Center. There will be live music by Randy Douglas and “Still Voice” from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be nail driving and hay bale toss contests (men and women), cake walks, an auction, country store, yard sale and children’s games. Food will be available inside and outside of the center. A drawing will also be held for a quilt made by Community Center ladies. Free admission.

LC Farm Bureau annual meeting

The Lincoln County Farm Bureau annual meeting and picnic will be held tonight (Sept. 6) at the Lincoln County Farm Bureau Center and Fairgrounds starting at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $1 per person. Those attending will enjoy a steak dinner followed by a business meeting. Business will include election of directors and officers and discussion of policy issues and resolutions. There will also be music by Samuel Bullock, inflatable slides for kids and door prizes. All member families are encouraged to attend.

Nature’s Thyme Herb group to meet

Nature’s Thyme Herb group will present, Bee Our Guest” Tea Event, on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are available at the Garrard County Extension office (859) 792-3026. Guest speaker will be Laura Rogers. Laura is the Small Farm Area Agent and she’s in charge of Small Farmers Outreach Training and Technical Assistance Program at Kentucky State University. She is headquartered at the Pulaski County Office in Somerset.

Computer Classes available

Registration for Computer Classes at Lincoln County Public Library is currently open. Call (606) 365-7513 or stop by the library to sign up as space is limited. On Tuesday, September 11 at 1 p.m. participants will cover an “Introduction to the Internet”; Tuesday, September 18 will be “Exploring the Internet”; Tuesday, September 25 will be “Gmail.” Sign up for all three or just the ones you need. *Participants must know computer basics like using a mouse and keyboard.

LC Public Library Exploration Station

The Lincoln County Public Library Exploration Station, a program for children and teens ages 8-18, will be held the second Tuesday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. Participants will enjoy various science, technology, engineering and math activities. The program for September 11 is Butterflies (the library is getting ready for The Big Read book, In the Time of Butterflies). Activities will take place in the Makerspace.

Good Grief Support Group

The Good Grief Plus More Support Group will meet Thursday, Sept. 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library.

Free copies of In the Time of the Butterflies at the Lincoln County Public Library for the NEA Big Read are now available. Watch for special events planned for October. Light refreshments will be served and prizes will be given away.
