Let us remember the Troyer family in our prayers. Mr. Troyer was killed in an Amish buggy accident one day last week on Hwy. 39. Our road, Hwy. 643 is very dangerous, also. We never know when we go around a curve or hill if we are going to come upon a buggy or children walking, and especially so, now that school has started back.

The annual Ottenheim potluck picnic will be held this Sunday, Sept. 2 at the old historic Lutheran Church in Ottenheim. Events start at 1:30 p.m. with picnic, music and auction. It is always so nice to visit with neighbors and visitors from out of town. Anyone is welcome to attend. The drinks, meat and paperware will be provided. There is always a lot of good food and desserts brought in by everyone. Come visit and enjoy!

Richard Clausen has been in the hospital, even though he is some better, he can still be remembered in our prayers.

St. Sylvester Church is having a fish fry this Friday (Aug. 31) from 5 to 7 p.m. in the building behind the church here in Ottenheim (four miles from Hwy. 27 on Hwy. 643). For more information, call (606) 365-7780. Thanks to all who help and attend, making this a success.

If this cooler weather is a sign of fall, it is fast approaching. It feels good being dry and a little cooler. Seems this year has gone by too fast.

The tobacco crops, that didn’t get damaged by too much rain, is soon ready to be cut and housed in the barns. It looks good to still see some tobacco being grown. Tobacco used to be the main crop here in Kentucky, now other crops have replaced it.

Bob Brackman called from California. He said they moved his dad, Roy, from the nursing home to their house. He is about the same, more happy to be with them.

What makes us worthwhile is who we are, not what we do.
