Kallie Bailey sang a special prior to the message Sunday, Aug. 19. “You know more than anyone.” Think about those words; God knows all about all of us; we have no secrets from Him. There is not a need that He cannot supply. Words that concluded the song were, “Help me Jesus to want You more than anything.”

Bro. Kyle’s message was “Motives Matter” from 1 Corinthians 13. “The most important motive for Christ followers is love,” stated Bro. Kyle. Our world is love obsessed. Webster defines love as an intense feeling of deep affection. This would mean caring about someone so much you put them first. There are four types of love according to Bro. Kyle – romantic love, friendship love, affection for friends and family, and agape (sacrificial love – the highest form of love). Agape love is God as He gave His only Son to die for us.

From this letter Paul taught us about the priority of love in the first three verses. Offering gifts to the church is not enough without love. Paul also taught about the patterns of love in verses 4-7. Love is patient, kind, overlooks faults – looks for ways to help. Verses 8-13 show the permanence of love. Love never ends. Love will be greater in heaven than we know it now.
