It’s that time again. Time to dust off those stadium seats and get ready for the start of the high school football season.

That means it is also time for the annual Patriot Pig Roast.

The pig roast, sponsored by the Lincoln Football Boosters, will be held Saturday, Aug. 11 in the LCHS cafeteria and provides fans the opportunity to meet the Patriot players and coaches and to start some preseason football talk about the prospects for the upcoming season.

The pig roast starts at 6 p.m. and tickets are $10. Tickets can be purchased from any football player and will be available at the door.

This year’s menu is pulled pork, baked beans, cole slaw, dessert and drink. Hot dogs will also be served for the kids.

After the meal, players, their families and fans can focus on both a live and silent auction. All proceeds from the pig roast and auctions benefit the football team.

The list of auction items already donated includes: Whitetail Heaven Hunt Adventure, valued at over $3,000; restaurant gift cards; massages; signed football helmets and jerseys; jewelry; and etc.

The hot topic the night of the pig roast just might be the Death Valley Bowl season opener on Aug. 17. Lincoln will host Somerset in the first game of the doubleheader at 6 p.m. In the second game at around 8:30 p.m., Bourbon County will take on Clay County.

For Lincoln football fans, this weekend will be full of Patriot events. The football team scrimmages at Wayne County Friday night then follows with the pig roast on Saturday. The activities will be capped off Sunday, Aug. 12, with a Classic Car Show at LCHS. The fundraiser event is from 1 to 4 p.m.
