Stanford Church of Christ giving away backpacks filled with school supplies

Members of the Stanford Church of Christ will be giving away new backpacks filled with school supplies to students in Lincoln County beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 28 while supplies last. They ask that a parent or guardian accompany children who are getting the backpacks. The church will also be serving hot dogs, chips, water and soft drinks to everyone who stops by.

Lincoln Co. Historical Society annual potluck picnic Aug. 7

The Lincoln County Historical Society will hold its annual potluck picnic on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at 6:30 p.m. Jan and William Henry Baughman will host the annual picnic at their home, Smith-Baughman Farm, at 2035 KY Hwy 1247. Bring a dish and show up. The LCHS will furnish the meat and drinks.

Summer Sizzle Karaoke Contest

Every Saturday night from July 28 through Sept. 8, 2018, the Garrard Community Art Center continues on with fundraising for our new location with a Karaoke Contest at Leo’s Restaurant on Lexington Street. Entry fee is $20 for your first try and $10 each subsequent try. Each weekend 3 contestants will pass on to the finals in September. Cash and prizes will be presented on finals night. Health Fair set for Aug. 4

A Health Fair is coming to the Lincoln County Public Library on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 9 a.m. to noon. Stop in for blood glucose testing, weight/BMI testing and blood pressure checks. The Health Fair is made possible by American National University Staff and Students.

Stanford Baptist Church hosting Back to School event

Join us for a fun event to help the children in our local community prepare to go Back to School! This event will be held Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Christian Life Center. This event is for ages PreK-6th grade, only. FREE Backpacks with school supplies will be given to the first 150 kids. A parent/guardian must be present with the child(ren), to receive the supplies. The Stanford City-Wide Yard Sale will be held Thursday-Sunday, Aug. 2-5. No permits necessary.

RAP Group hosting bundle opening

The Lincoln County Relatives as Parents (RAP) Group will be hosting a bundle opening on Tuesday, July 31 at 5 p.m. behind Stanford Elementary School. Safe Community Coalition collecting school supplies

The Safe Community Coalition is collecting school supplies for the upcoming school year. Donations can be dropped off at the Lincoln County Chamber Office or Lincoln County PVA office at 201 East Main Street. Items will be distributed at Safety Day at the fairgrounds on Saturday, August 4, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

FREE Lunches

FREE lunches will be available at McKinney Baptist Church for ages 18 and younger each weekday, through August 10. The lunches may be picked up in the parking lot at 11:30 a.m.

Lincoln County Farmers Market is now open through October 31 at the Veterans Ball Park (less that 1/4 mile on Hwy 150 going toward Crab Orchard on left) The market will be open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. or sold out.
