Rain dampens start of Lincoln Co. Fair

STANFORD — Despite gloom and rain, the annual Lincoln County Fair opened for another year Monday.

Due to the torrential downpour, the first day of the fair got off to a slow start with all contests and competitions delayed for over an hour; the
Kissel Entertainment rides and games without any customers for about the same time; and the fireworks postponed. The Floral Hall exhibit and food vendors were the only ones seeing much foot traffic.

But eventually, all things — with the exception of the fireworks — were a go after the rain started to ease up. As fair-goers started coming through the gates, the rides started spinning and rolling and the contests and competitions began.
