Thanks for making Relay for Life a success

Dear Editor,

On behalf of the American Cancer Society, Lincoln County Relay for Life and those who have and continue to battle cancer, we would like to thank everyone who helped to make our 2018 Relay for Life such an overwhelming success.

Lincoln County’s goal was $95,000. With the tremendous support of our teams, sponsors and community we raised $75,980.99. As we strive to meet our goals, we also know that many researchers are working to find a cure for a disease that knows no age limit, race, religion or class of people. It is with this knowledge that our Relay committee works tirelessly to raise money for Relay.

Many of our committee members are cancer survivors or have family members who have been affected by cancer. To this committee, we say thank you and without you we would not be where we are today. You help make our Relay Committee one of, if not the most efficient in the division.

First we would like to thank our Lincoln County Fair Board for their generosity and tremendous support.  Without the use of the fairgrounds there could not be a Relay. Also, for the Fair board members who work so hard in helping to get everything set up and ready, we cannot thank you enough.

We would like to thank our teams, who worked so hard to raise money for our Lincoln County Relay for Life.

We truly thank our major sponsors for their continuing support. This year’s major sponsors were Farmers National Bank, PBK Bank, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital and Stanford Christian Church. Our other sponsors were Spurlin Funeral Home, Survivor Sponsor; Fox and Friend and Barnett, Demrow and Friend Funeral Home, Luminaria Sponsor; First Southern National Bank, Hope Luminaria; Lincoln Manufacturing USA, LLC, Auction Sponsor; Deco Art, Glow Walk Sponsor; Animal Care Center, Bark for Life Sponsor; Signature Sponsors were:  In Memory of Charles Estes, Program Sponsor; Inter County Energy, and AGE Engineering. Pruitt Funeral Home.

We also must thank Lincoln County jail for their donation of time in cleaning up the fairgrounds after the Relay event.

Thank you to Lincoln Manufacturing for sponsoring the online auction. All the teams and businesses furnish items for the online auction.

Thank you Spurlin Funeral Home for continuing to sponsor the Survivors Walk. It is inspiring to see the survivors make the first lap around the track.

Thank you, Fox and Friend and Barnett, Demrow and Friend Funeral Home for continuing your sponsorship of our Luminaria Service. Our service was awesome. With the entire track lit by all the luminaries and with a moment of remembrance and honor, it was beyond description. We also thank our Lincoln County Funeral Homes, Fox and Friend and Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home and, Spurlin Funeral Home for furnishing tents and having someone put them up year after year.

Lincoln County Relay is fortunate to have WPBK FM 102.9 as a sponsor. We have live coverage for the Relay event. For many years Tim Estes has spent the entire night as emcee and furnished his equipment and speakers. Thank you Tim, your presence makes a big difference in the entire night’s program.

Thanks to the Interior Journal for the exceptional coverage of Relay for Life in the newspaper.

I hope we have recognized everyone. If we have missed some, it was not intentionally. We know you do not do this for recognition, but with the same goal each committee member works toward, finding a cure. Thank you to the businesses and individuals, you not only make donations but also provide items for our auction and concessions. When a community comes together as ours does for Lincoln County Relay for Life, it is an awesome experience and one that each Lincoln Countian can be proud of.

We would like to invite you to be a part of Relay 2019 by having a team or donating an item to the auction or becoming a sponsor or Lane Sponsor. Next year’s Relay will be June 7, 2019. Please put this on your calendar and join us next year in helping to fund finding a cure! On behalf of our entire Relay committee, words cannot express our thanks.
