The Lincoln County High School bass fishing duo of Mason Moore and Hunter Cornelius finished in the upper half of the 68 boats in the water at Kentucky Lake for the 2018 KHSAA Bass Fishing Championships.

Moore and Cornelius had the high finish of Lincoln’s three teams in the state tournament, placing 33rd out of the 68 boats. The two caught just one fish on day one of the tourney, which weighed 3.5 pounds. On day two, they reeled in two bass weighing 5.6 pounds for a total of 8.11 pounds. Their biggest bass weighed 3.9 pounds.

The team of Benton McKnight and Zach Spears, which led Lincoln at regionals, finished tied for 47th overall. They caught only one fish each day, landing a 2.9-pound fish on day one and a 2.12-pounder on day two, which was their biggest bass for the tournament. Their total weight was 5.5 pounds.

Lincoln’s third team, Aaron Cook and Zane Rouse, struggled at state, reeling in just one bass over the two days to finish last. Their lone haul weighed 1.13 pounds.

The winning boat in the tournament was from Marshall County. Tristan Barrett and Evan Bremmerkamp caught five fish on day one weighing 17.12 pounds and three more on day two weighing 9.15 pounds for 27.11 total pounds.
