HUSTONVILLE — The final plans have been prepared and the documents have been signed and now, the City of Hustonville awaits final federal approval to begin construction of a new fire and emergency services building.
Mayor David Peyton updated the city council Tuesday during the regular monthly meeting.

“Contracts have been signed and been turned back over to USDA (United States Department of Agriculture). Just waiting for their review and they’ll green-light the contractor to come in and start working,” Peyton said.
Council member Jimmy Evans asked if the construction could be completed this year.
“I really feel like it will be,” Peyton said. “It’s not a big complicated Taj Mahal, it’s a pretty basic building.”
Before construction can begin, USDA has to sign off on the project, Peyton said, and he’s not sure how long that approval will take.
