LC tennis edged 3-2 by Southern

The Lincoln County High School tennis teams came up short in a road trip to Madison Southern, with both the girls’ and boys’ teams edged 3-2 by their hosts.

Doubles play earned the Lady Patriot netters their two wins in the match at Berea, with Raelyn Amon and Kaitlynn Wilks notching an 8-2 win at first doubles and Chandler Otto and Abby Hale blanking their opponents 8-0 at three. Amon and Wilks defeated Southern’s top team of Rachel Carmack and Robin Carmack while Otto and Hale won over Olivia Cates and Kaitlyn Renfro.

In boys’ action, Lincoln won one singles and one doubles match. Gavin Fowler picked up the “W” in singles play with an 8-2 win over Southern’s Evan Farley at the three seed. Lee Amon and Colin Green were victorious in their match at two doubles, defeating Southern’s Holden Daughtery and Jarred Henderson 8-1.

Lady Pat Grace Muse flirted with victory in both singles and doubles play in the match. In the three seed singles match, Muse won six games before Southern’s Cassidy Newby escaped with an 8-6 win. Then, in doubles, Muse and Emily Byrd challenged Abigail Johnson and Grace Yates at the two seed only to have the Southern duo net the 8-5 win.
