Meet the Author at Lincoln County Public Library on Tuesday, March 20 at 6:30 pm. Local Author William Stafford will discuss his new book Adam Smith and The Tower of Justice and the self-publishing process. Democratic Woman’s Club to meet

The Democratic Woman’s Club will meet Thursday, March 8 at 5 p.m. at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant. The meeting will focus on support for upcoming elections. All women are welcome.

Area Forage Production meeting

An area forage production meeting will be held Thursday, March 1 at the Boyle County Extension Office. All area farmers and agribusiness reps are invited to attend. A meal will be served at 6 p.m. followed by speakers starting at 6:30 p.m.

Scholarships available

The Nightingale Chapter of the Kentucky Nurses Association offers nursing scholarships in the spring and fall to support students who are enrolled in the final semester of a pre-licensure RN program, as well as BSN, MSN, and doctoral students. The deadline for the spring scholarship is April 27, 2018. The applicant must reside or be employed as a RN within the following counties: Anderson, Boyle, Casey, Garrard, Lincoln, Marion, Mercer, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Washington, and Woodford. Nursing Advocacy

The Nightingale Chapter of the Kentucky Nurses Association presents Nursing Advocacy – Your Voice Counts! The presentation will be Thursday, March 8, at 6:30 p.m. at Ephraim McDowell Health, McDowell Room, 217 South Third Street, Danville. The speaker, Sheila A. Understanding insurance

An Understanding My Needs: Insurance 101 program will be held Thursday, March 29 at 9:30 a.m. at the Boyle County Extension Office, 99 Corporate Dr. Topics covered will include resources available for navigating auto, home, health and life insurance. Information from Attorney General’s Office and Office of Senior Protection and Mediation will be provided. Guest speaker, Robert L. Equine Therapy spring sessions

Hooves of Hope Equestrian Center, Inc will be starting springs sessions on Monday, March 26. Lincoln Youth baseball/softball signups

Lincoln Youth Baseball/Girls Softball/T-ball/Wee Ball registration will be held March 12-29. You can register online by going to lincolncountyparks.org or the park office Monday-Friday 1 to 4 p.m. during the registration period. For ages 4-12 and must be 4 years old by April 30th to participate. Cost is $65 for Baseball/T-ball/Wee Ball and $60 for Girls Softball.

Breakfast with the Easter bunny

Enjoy breakfast with the Easter bunny on Saturday, March 24 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Lincoln County Extension Office. Tickets are $5 which includes your breakfast of pancakes, sausage, drink and a photo with the Easter bunny. Come meet our real live bunnies from the 4-H Rabbit Club. Nature Thyme Herb Group to meet

Nature’s Thyme Herb Group will meet Thursday, March 8 at 7 p.m. at the Garrard County Extension office. Anna Lake will discuss essential oils and do some simple testing to see what we are lacking. Blood Drives to be held

Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) is encouraging Kentuckians to roll up their sleeves, donate blood and help Kentucky patients. As a thank you, those who register to give blood at the drive below will receive a fun “Donate blood, y’all” purple T-shirt. The first will be Monday, March 12 from 9 to 11 a.m. on the KBC Bloodmobile, located at Lifeline Home Health at 132 Frontier Blvd., Stanford; the second will be Thursday, March 22 from 1 to 6 p.m. in the fellowship room at the Stanford Presbysterian Church, 213 East Main Street. Blood donors must be 17-years- old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Blue Grass Community Action Partnership offers scholarship

Blue Grass Community Action Partnership will offer a one-time $750 Scholarship to an individual in Lincoln County. The recipient will be selected based on need, academic record and the merit of the application. The scholarship may be used to help cover expenses associated with attending college or a technical school of the recipient’s choice. Applications for the scholarship may be obtained from the guidance counselor at each area high school, or by calling Jessica Aldridge at Blue Grass Community Action Partnership – Community Services at (502) 695-4290 ext. 224. Non-traditional students will also be considered. The deadline for submitting an application is April 16, 2018.

Countdown to the Siege

The third annual reenactment of the Siege of 1777 at Logan’s Fort will be held May 18-20. Admission is $5, free to children 12 and under. More information on Facebook at 3rd annual siege of Logan’s Station.

Frontier Clothing, Saturday, March 24 at 1 p.m. at the Lincoln County Library. What did my ancestors wear? Jeannette HIllard, 18th Century Clothier, and her husband, Archie, will demonstrate the clothing types worn by Kentucky settlers. Jemima Boone, Life on the Frontier, Saturday, April 28, 1 p.m. at the Lincoln County Library.Chautauqua performer, Betsy Smith, will deliver a historically accurate dramatization of Jemima Boone, daughter of Daniel Boone. Captured by indians at age 14, she was rescued after three days by a search party led by her father. Danville Pub Takeover Event – 1 to 4 p.m.,  Saturday, March 3. The Green Dragon Scottish Rite Club will be hosting our first annual pub takeover at the Beer Engine, located at 107 Larrimore Lane, Danville. We will be accepting donations for RiteCare Speech and Language Center, which helps bring new opportunities to underprivileged and disadvantaged children in the community. Heritage Hospice Volunteer Training

The Lincoln County Chamber is now accepting nominations for the annual Chamber Banquet. Lunch at Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center

Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center invites all (60+) years old to join us for lunch on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11:30 a.m. The meals are FREE but donations are welcome. American Legion Post 18 monthly meetings

Good Grief Support Group

The Good Grief Support Group will meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the second and last Thursday of each month at the Lincoln County Public Library. Join our caring, compassionate atmosphere as we share life experience and understanding in times of grief and bereavement. Snacks and coffee will be provided. Lions Club monthly meetings

The Lions Club meets on the first and third Mondays of every month at the Lincoln County Public Library. The public is encouraged to attend and are invited to join the Lions Club. Cedar Creek Sportsman Club meetings

“Whooo’s Ready to Learn?” A school readiness event sponsored by the Lincoln County Community Early Childhood Council will be held Tuesday, March 6  from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m at the Lincoln County Public Library.  Last admission is at 6 pm.  Each family will receive a FREE kindergarten readiness kit (while supplies last). Fun age appropriate activities for children ages 3-5. Tips and information for parents.  Alternative activities will be provided for older siblings.
