STANFORD — Deputies arrested a man and woman on burglary charges after finding the pair — and a bag of tools — inside an abandoned house about five miles west of Stanford.

The two allegedly told deputies they were only in the house to have sex. But when law enforcement agents arrived, both were fully clothed.

That’s according to the Feb. 6 arrest citation, which states Lincoln County deputies Michael Mullins and Brandon Mcintosh arrested 45-year-old Jamie Tillet, of 80 Rube Brown Road, east of Hustonville, and 32-year-old Amanda Snow, of 110 Lou Drive, about 15 miles west of Stanford.

Deputies received a call at about 4:25 a.m. from the owner of the property located at 5996 Ky. 78, Matt Rankin, who said unknown subjects were on his property.

According to Mullins, Rankin said a loud truck woke him up and directed deputies to a dirt road that led to a garage and old abandoned house.

“Deputies observed fresh tire tracks on the road,” the citation states.

Once at the residence, deputies found a red 1989 Chevy Silverado in the driveway and could hear movement inside the house.

Tillet then came out of the house and onto the porch but allegedly ignored several loud, verbal commands to get on his knees and put up his hands. Tillet then turned and put his hands in his pockets and was taken to the ground by deputies, according to the citation.

Tillet and Snow told deputies they were at the house having sex and that they had permission from Josh Gerkey to be on the property.

“Both were clothed at the time,” Mullins stated. “(Tillet) had a pair of wire pliers on his person, a bag was found inside the residence on (the) stove with tools inside.”

Gerkey contacted the newspaper Thursday and disputed the claim that he had given anyone permission to be on the property.

The bag was clean and was not covered in dust like the surrounding area in the kitchen, Mullins said.

Deputies also found a hole in the ceiling with wire exposed, which Rankin said should not have been there.

Tillet and Snow were both arrested and lodged in the Lincoln County Regional Jail after being medically cleared, Mullins said.

The two were charged with second-degree burglary and third-degree trespassing. Tillet was also charged with resisting arrest. Both have since been released from custody, according to the jail’s online records.
