Patriots finish 2-1 in C-ville tourney; close with Green, Washington wins

The Bardstown loss was a disappointing start for the Lincoln County boys in the Campbellsville High School Holiday Classic, but the Patriots rebounded to close 2017 with back-to-back wins.

Spencer Baird and Elijah Frye combined for 39 points to lead Lincoln in a 47-46 win over Green County in the tourney’s second round. Baird had a game-high 22 points and Frye poured in 17 points.

Lincoln shot 37 percent from the field in the win, going 15-for-41, 7-for-17 from 3-point range. The team was 10-for-14 at the foul line.

Five Pats got in the scorebooks, with Darius Napier getting three points and Jaxon Smith and Bryson Yaden each getting two. Yaden and Smith led Lincoln on the glass, with Yaden grabbing a team-high eight boards and Smith getting six. Frye finished with four rebounds.

Green (4-6) had six players figure in the scoring, led by Zyler Bardin with 16 points and Isaac Young with 11.

Hunter McCubbins led Green in a 26-25 win on the boards with nine rebounds.

No shooting stats were available for Green.

It would be another close call in the 2017 finale, as Lincoln edged Washington County 47-45 in the closing round.
