The Lincoln County Middle School boys basketball teams sandwiched Salt River Conference wins around the Thanksgiving holiday, sweeping Mercer Middle before the break then following with a shutout of Danville Bate Middle after the break.

All three teams now have double-digit wins on the season after the sweep of Mercer Middle, with the sixth grade team notching its 10th win of the season in a 41-7 rout at Mercer. Following the Mercer/Bate sweeps, the sixth-grade Eagles are now 11-3, the seventh-grade is 13-1 and the eighth-graders are 12-2.

6th Grade
LC 41, Mercer 7
Lincoln’s sixth-grade Eagles had little trouble at Mercer, shutting out their hosts 28-0 in the first and fourth periods en route to a 41-7 victory.

The Eagles outscored Mercer 21-0 in the first and 7-0 in the final period. They led 27-6 at the half and 34-7 going into the fourth.

Blade Nuckols paced Lincoln in the win with 12 points. Sawyer Horton finished with seven points, six steals and three blocks, Seth Horton had seven points and six rebounds, Breydon Hatter had five points, Elan Lane, Landon Day, J.C. Bryant, Jacob Moore and Andrew Simmerman each had two points.

7th Grade
LC 49, Mercer 23
Lincoln more than doubled-up Mercer County Middle’s scoring in the seventh-grade game, as the Eagles rolled 49-23.

Lincoln jumped out to a 15-7 lead in the first quarter then took control of the game with a 21-2 scoring run in the second period to open up a 36-9 margin.

Jansen McAninch led Lincoln in the win with 14 points and five rebounds and Colton Ralston followed with 10 points. Layne Lark added seven points and had four steals, Trevor Miracle had six points, Zack Moore had five, Bo Wallin, four, and Tramane Alcorn, three points and four assists.

8th Grade
LC 63, Mercer 26
Ten Eagles got in the scorebook in the eighth-grade team’s 63-26 throttling of Mercer.

Colin Green led the way with 16 points and four rebounds while Lee Amon hit double figures with 13 points. 

Just like in the sixth- and seventh-grade games, the Lincoln eighth-graders held Mercer to single-digit scoring in every period, opening on a 14-2  run. The Eagles led 29-9 at the break, then went on a 17-7 tear in the third to make it 46-16.

Cruise Wilson contributed nine points, four rebounds and four assists, Lawson Hon had eight points, Clayton Davis got five points and four assists,Braxton Cooper also had five points, Colton Ralston had three, and Zack Young and Jansen McAninch each had two. Tramane Alcorn had five assists.

Danville Bate at Lincoln
6th Grade
LC 64, Bate 40
Blade Nuckols and Seth Horton combined for 37 points and nine rebounds to lead the Lincoln sixth-grade Eagles to a 64-40 win over Danville Bate.

Nuckols led all scorers with 23 points and Horton followed with 14 points and nine rebounds. Horton also had four assists.

The score was deadlocked at 15-all after the first period, but Lincoln opened up the game with an 18-7 second-quarter run and never looked back.

Sawyer Horton scored eight points and had five steals, Connor Davis had seven points and seven assists, Elan Lane had four points, Jackson Withrow got two points and six rebounds and Jacob Moore, Andrew Simmerman and R.J. Givens had two points apiece.

7th Grade
LC 63, Bate 38
A trio of double-digit scorers led Lincoln to a decisive 63-38 win over Danville Bate in the seventh-grade game.

Layne Lark paced Lincoln with 19 points, along with six rebounds and four assists, Tramane Alcorn poured in 15 points with four assists and Colton Ralston added 10 points with four assists.

Lincoln led 14-13 after the first period, then doubled-up Bate in the second quarter, 20-10, to post a 34-23 halftime lead. The Eagles used an 18-10 third period to extend their lead to 52-33 going into fourth.

Rounding out Lincoln’s scoring were Zack Moore with six points and five assists, Jackson Sims, also with six points, Jansen McAninch with five points and Bo Wallin with two.

8th Grade
LC 53, Bate 48 OT
Cruise Wilson, Colin Green and Lee Amon combined for 39 points and 27 rebounds for Lincoln in the eighth-grade nightcap, and the Eagles needed every last one of those points  to clinch their 53-48 overtime win over Danville Bate.

Lincoln had just five Eagles scoring in the OT win, with Wilson leading the way with 18 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals. Also in double figures were Green, who pushed in 11 points with three assists, and Amon, who had 10 points, a game-high 17 rebounds and three steals. Tramane Alcorn added eight points with three assists and Clayton Davis had six points and three assists.

After an 8-8 end to the first period, Lincoln nosed ahead 21-14 at the half after a 13-6 scoring run.

Bate negated the Lincoln lead in the third quarter, outpointing the Eagles 18-10 to go up 32-31. However, the game was deadlocked again at the close of the fourth quarter, with Lincoln edging the Bulldogs 12-11 to even the game at 43-all.

Lincoln went on to put away the game by outscoring Bate 10-5 in the extra period.
