Eagles sweep Garrard

Lincoln County Middle School continued with its winning ways Monday night, following the weekend’s 9-0 Panorama run with a sweep of Garrard County in its home opener.

The Eagles kicked off the night with a 48-40 win over Garrard in the sixth-grade game, followed with a 51-25 romp in seventh-grade action, then finished with a 57-17 drubbing of Garrard’s eighth-grade in the night cap.

Blake Nuckols and Seth Horton combined for 31 points in the sixth-grade Eagles’ win. Nuckols led the way with 18 points and Horton had 13 points.

Lincoln’s sixth-graders jumped ahead 11-5 in the first quarter. The margin remained at six until the fourth quarter with the two teams even in scoring over the second (12-12) and third (14-14) quarters to make it 37-31 going into the fourth quarter. 

The Eagles then sealed the win with an 11-9 finish.

Sawyer Horton finishd with eight points and eight rebounds for Lincoln, Elan Lane had five points and four steals and
Jackson Withrow had four points. Connor Davis had five assists.

In the seventh-grade win, Lincoln exploded out to an 11-4 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The Eagles put up double figures in every quarter while holding Garrard to single digits until the final frame.

Lincoln led 24-11 at the half and 40-13 at the end of the third quarter. 

Garrard did outscore Lincoln in the fourth quarter, however, the 12-11 advantage was not enough to overcome the Eagles’ early lead.

Colton Ralston led Lincoln in the win with nine points and seven rebounds. Zack Moore and Tramane Alcorn both scored eight points, with Moore also getting three assists and four steals. Trevor Miracle added seven points, Layne Lark had six, Brian Gray, four, Jansen McAninch, Jackson Sims, Jason Petrey and Sawyer Horton had two points apiece and Jalen Smith had one point.

The Garrard County eighth-grade team proved no match for its Lincoln County opponent as the host Eagles cruised to 4-0 on the season in a 57-17 rout.

Lincoln took control in the first quarter by shutting out Garrard 18-0 and the rout was on. The Eagles led 38-7 at the half and 48-9 going into the fourth quarter.

Colin Green and Tramane Alcorn led Lincoln with nine points apiece. Cruise Wilson contributed eight points, nine rebounds and five assists, Skyler Quinn added seven points, Lee Amon finished with six, Ryan York and Braxton Cooper each had four points, Lawson Hon and Layne Lark each had three and Landon McQueen and Zack Moore got two points apiece. Clayton Davis had four steals.
