Democratic Woman’s Club to meet

The Democratic Woman’s Club will meet Thursday, Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant. Officers for 2018 will be elected. Members are asked to bring non-perishable food items for Fort Logan Ministries. All women are welcome.

Hats and Gloves benefit dance

A Hats and Gloves benefit dance will be held Friday, Nov. 10 from 7 to 10 p.m. at 1302 Stanford Road, Lancaster. Bring hats and gloves for admission. Spaghetti dinner is $5, children under six is $3. Silent auction!

Health Dept. closed for Veterans Day

The Lincoln County Health Department will be closed Friday, Nov. 10 in observance of the Veterans Day holiday.

Early Childhood Center new facility

Stanford Early Childhood Center will celebrate the opening of its facility, located at 903 Danville Ave., with a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, Nov 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be tours. Refreshments will be served.

LCRT to talk

teachers’ pensions

The Lincoln County Retired Teachers (LCRT) will meet Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 11:30 a.m. at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant. A representative from KRTA insurance will be in attendance to give updates and to answer questions. Time will be given to discuss updates on teachers’ pensions situation. The LCRT are asking for members to bring canned goods to support Fort Logan Ministries.

Young to sign book

Want to know more about World War II in the Pacific from a veteran who survived four major battles? Ralph Young will be at Kroger in Danville on Friday, Nov. 10 from 3 to 5 p.m., to sign his recent book “Forgotten Warriors”.

Herndon Ave. closed for maintenance

Attention residents: Herndon Ave. will be blocked for approximately three weeks (starting Nov. 8) while the State is working on a water issue at the corner of Herndon Ave. and Lancaster Street.

Fort Logan Auxiliary selling poinsettias

Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary is conducing its annual poinsettia sale. Each red poinsettia will have five to seven blooms in a gold foil covered pot. Cost is $10 each. All proceeds benefit auxiliary projects.

Nature’s Thyme Herb Group to meet

Logan-Whitley DAR November meeting

Prospective members are invited to attend the Logan-Whitley DAR meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 5:30 p.m. (arrive before 5:30 p.m. and order your supper) at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant, 119 Metker Trail in Stanford. The program is Project Patriot (it’s Veterans Week, come join us for this special program). The Lincoln County Republican Party will begin candidate recruitment for the 2018 County Elections on November 14, at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library. Those interested in seeking election or reelection to County office as a Republican should attend if possible.

Snow Royalty applications

Applications are now available for Snow Royalty. Snow Princess ages 4-6, Snow Duchess 7-9, and Countess 10-middle school. Applications are available at the Chamber office, at Blue Monday Pink Tuesday or online at lincolncountychamber.com. Interviews will be held at Fort Logan Hospital, Tuesday, Nov. 28, beginning at 6 p.m. for the princess, 6:30 p.m. for Duchess and 7 p.m. for Countess. Rec League basketball registration

6th-8th Grade Rec League Basketball registration will begin Monday, Nov 6 and continue through Nov 27. Co-ed league for anyone in 6th-8th grades. Cost is $45. Games are played at Lincoln County Community Center (formerly Kings Mt. Elementary). You can register by going to lincolncountyparks.org or in the park office Monday-Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Closed on Nov 10, 23, 24, and weekends).

LC Historical Society Christmas dinner

The Lincoln County Historical Society will hold its Christmas dinner on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Stanford Ballroom Facility (above Bluebird on Main Street). Guest speaker will be Eric Brooks, curator/site manager of Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate in Lexington. A presentation of “Objects of Greatest Admiration, a History of Henry Clay in 25 Objects”. The dinner will be catered in buffet style. American Legion Post 18 monthly meetings

Good Grief Support Group

The Good Grief Support Group will meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the second and last Thursday of each month at the Lincoln County Public Library. Blood drive set 

Big Blue Crush, the annual blood battle between Kentucky and Tennessee fans, turns 30 this year. To assure a ready blood supply for the holidays, Kentucky Blood Center and Medic Regional Blood Center in Knoxville have had an ongoing friendly competition to see whose donors can give the most blood the week prior to Thanksgiving week. Kentucky, which has won the past seven years, leads the rivalry 16 to 12 with one tie. As a thank you for saving a life, Kentucky donors will receive a Crush T-shirt and a chance to win tickets to the Kentucky-Louisville football game on Nov. 25. Kentucky fans can give blood during Big Blue Crush on Thursday, Nov. 16 from 1  to  6 p.m. in the fellowship hall at the Stanford Presbyterian Church, 213 East Main in Stanford. Blood donors must be at least 17-years-old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.

Library will be closed November 23-26. The library will be upgrading network equipment to increase capacity to connect to the Internet ad provide better service. No items will be due during this time. No late fees will be charged for those days.
