Retired teachers collect items for backpack program

At their October meeting, Lincoln County Retired Teachers collected items for the backpack program for Lincoln County Middle School. They collected over 50 items, plus donated over $150 toward ending child hunger. A generous $50 donation from AARP was split between the school supplies drive and the backpack program, with $25 going to each. School supplies went to Fort Logan High School and Crab Orchard Elementary earlier this year. This is the fourth year that Kentucky Retired Teachers Assn. (KRTA) and AARP-KY have teamed up to help those struggling to put food on the table.
LCMS just began its program this year and needs funds to help send food home with students for the weekend. Other elementary programs have permanent sponsors, but the Middle School is still looking for a group to help sponsor them. If you would like to make a donation, please contact Becky Burton at LCMS. They are currently serving about 25 students.
