Rocky Ford Masonic Lodge potluck

Rocky Ford Masonic Lodge #765 will host a friend to friend community pot luck meal on Saturday, Oct. 21. We will eat at 5:30 p.m. So bring a dish with something in it and join us for a delicious meal and good fellowship. Located on Hwy. 78 West 9 miles from Hustonville.

The Democratic Woman’s Club will meet at the Kentucky Depot, Thursday, Oct. 12 at 5 p.m. Diane Miller with the Lincoln County Health Department will speak on Women’s Health. All ladies are invited to attend. 

10th annual Veterans Appreciation Day

The 10th annual Veterans Appreciation Day will be held Friday, Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Danville National Guard Armory to honor all veterans from Boyle, Garrard, Lincoln and Mercer. A shuttle service will be provided from the Danville Stadium. Disabled parking available. Fish and barbecue dinners will be served. Door prizes. This is held by the Heritage Hospice, Inc. Veterans Committee.

RAP group to meet

The Lincoln County RAP (Relatives as Parents) group will meet Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 5 p.m. at Calvary Hill Baptist Church, 100 John Street in Stanford. These meetings are for anyone raising children other than their own and are to provide: support, referrals, resources and coping skills. 7th Annual Pollyann Ridge reunion

The 7th annual Pollyann Ridge reunion will be held Saturday, Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. to ??? at the Eubank Senior Citizens Center.  The reunion is for everyone who lives on or lived on Pollyann Ridge. Please bring food, memories, and photos to display for everyone to enjoy. 

City of Stanford city wide cleanup dates

The City of Stanford city wide fall cleanup has been scheduled for: October 16 through October 20 and October 23 through October 27. All items for pickup are to be placed at the curb. Items exempt from pickup are tires, batteries, paint cans, all hazardous chemicals. Tree limbs no longer than 6 feet and tied in bundles and placed by the curb will be picked up. Indigenous Peoples Day to be observed

The historic first Indigenous Peoples Day (Native American Day) Celebration is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 9, at 1 p.m. on the courthouse steps. Free to the public. Live Native American music including flute, drum, and vocals. Variety of speakers. Reception will follow. Bring your family and friends for this historic, first time event.

LC Retired Teachers

to meet

All Lincoln County Retired Teachers are encouraged to attend our October 17 meeting to hear speaker Austin Gage, Legislative Assistant to Congressman Hal Rogers, our Fifth District Representative in the U.S. Congress. We have asked him to address H.R. 1205 repealing the Government Pension Offset (GPO) and the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP). These bills were passed several years ago that prohibit a teacher from receiving spousal Social Security benefits, as well as prevent him/her from receiving full Social Security benefits from any previous employment under Social Security. Five House members from Kentucky have agreed to co-sponsor this bill. Congressman Rogers is not one of them. The meeting is a potluck lunch at Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center in Stanford at 11:30 a.m. Please plan to attend. Meat is provided for $2; please bring a side dish or dessert. Also bring your items for the backpack program for Lincoln County students.

Blood drive

Blood donors help Kentucky patients and support the healthcare of their communities by providing life-saving blood components for patients who depend on transfusions. In a sense, they have the community’s back. That’s why Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) is providing a fun “I’ve got your back” T-shirt for donors at the upcoming blood drive. The blood drive is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 9 from 3 to  7 p.m. in the cafeteria at Crab Orchard Elementary School, 137 Lancaster Street, Crab Orchard. Blood donors must be 17-years-old weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements.

Health department to host free Diabetes management course

The Lincoln County Health Department will be hosting a 2-part Diabetes Self-Management Training beginning October 18 and concluding on October 25. Both days will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be held at the Lincoln County Health Department  This is a free comprehensive Diabetes Management Training course that will help attendees learn how to effectively manage their Diabetes. South Lincoln County FRC Council to meet

The South Lincoln County Family Resource Center will hold an Advisory Council meeting at Waynesburg Elementary on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m.  Meetings are open to all.

American Legion Post 18 monthly meetings

The American Legion Post 18 in Stanford meets the first Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library, 2nd floor. All veterans are welcome. 

Diabetes Support Group to meet

The Lincoln County Diabetes Support Group will meet Thursday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. at the Lincoln County Health Department. The topic for October is “Protect Against the Flu”. LCHS Class of ‘92 to hold 25-year reunion

The Lincoln County High School Class of 1992 will have its 25-year class reunion Saturday, Oct. 21, at Keeneland in Lexington.  Come join all your classmates for a tailgate style lunch starting at 11 a.m. A bar-b-que style meat will be provided. Please bring a side dish and your drinks along with some chairs. Then at 1:05 p.m., gates open for horse racing. 20 Year Reunion

LCHS Class of 1997 – 20 Year Reunion will be held Saturday, Oct, 21, from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Back Porch Club House Venue (formerly known as Dix River Country Club), 2220 Hwy. 27 N in Stanford. Evening includes: Meet and Greet 6 to 7 p.m. – snacks provided; dinner 7 to 8 p.m.; music and dance and socialize 8 to 11 p.m.; more snacks provided 9:30 to 11 p.m. Cost per person: $20 (with meal); after September 30: $30 (with meal); Without Meal – $10 per person. William Whitley House October events

Escape Frontier Terror – Oct. 5, 12 & 19 – small fee. Reservation times 5:30, 6:30 or 7:30 p.m. Early Pioneer days were dangerous settling Kentucky. Hidden routes and hideouts were used to stay safe. Using a series of clues and teamwork you will have 45 minutes to escape leaving no one behind. Not recommended for children under 10. Reservations required. Call (606) 355-2881.

LCHS Class of 1997  – Family Fun at the Park

LCHS Class of 1997  – Family Fun at the Park will be Saturday, Oct. 21 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at First Southern Veterans Park (Soccer Complex Entrance) Lions Club Pavilion and Community Building, 400 Hwy. 150 East in Stanford.

Bring the family out to the park to socialize and have fun. We will have access to the pavilion, community building, and playground; Cotton candy and shaved ice will be available from 1 to 2:30 p.m.; and games for all. So rain or shine we will have fun. No RSVP required.

Learn event

The Lincoln County Cancer Coalition will be hosting a free Lunch & Learn event on Wednesday, Oct. 11 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library.  This is a free educational event and lunch will be provided, (limited to the first 20 registrants). Free educational materials will be given and door prize drawings will take place. The guest speaker will be Dr. Jannice Aaron Baughman. Annual Galilean Quilt & Craft Auction

28th annual Galilean Quilt & Craft Auction will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 13 and 14 on the campus of the Galilean Home. Friday’s schedule: 4:30 p.m. Spaghetti dinner, 6:30 p.m. singing program followed by craft auction. Saturday’s schedule: 7 a.m. pancake breakfast and 10 a.m. Quilt auction (lunch will be available). (Over 300 quilts and crafts will be auctioned off and there will be 100’s of buy-now items.)

Family Fun ROCK Swap! Monday, Oct. 9, 5  to 6 p.m. Join us for music, a rock swapping game, door prizes and cotton candy.  PLEASE BRING 3-5 pre-painted ROCKS to exchange. All ages welcome!  

Pushing the Limits of Tradition: October 12 at 6 p.m.  This series  brings together books and videos featuring authors, scientists, and everyday people who thrive on exploring the natural world. October’s featured title will be The Chimes by Anna Smaill.
