Girls Soccer Lady Pats get 9-2 win

STANFORD — The Lincoln County girls soccer team celebrated “Senior Night” with a 9-2 win over visiting Frankfort Monday night.
“Tonight was for them and I couldn’t have been any more proud,” Lincoln coach Wendy Estes said of her seniors. “I saw them put in things that we have worked on. I saw them come together as a team. I saw a lot of little missing keys that haven’t really been demonstrated. It all came together tonight for them.”
Senior Chandler Otto, who has been sidelined since the first game of the season with a leg injury, scored a “hat trick” in her return to action to help lead the Lady Patriots to the win.
“She has been injured since the very first game. In a full leg brace with a fracture,” Estes said. “It was her first game back and I didn’t really intend for her playing as long as she did, but she was on. She had missed it all year. She needed it and I think it was actually healing for her. The entire team wanted her to score as much as she did.”
Otto was one of five seniors scoring in the victory. Emma Kaiser pushed in two goals and Alie House, Meredith Dennis and Cassidy Goetz had a goal apiece.
It would be an underclassman tallying first for Lincoln, however, with junior Anna Lane getting the Lady Patriots on the scoreboard with 16:26 left in the first period to put the game in a 1-1 tie.
Frankfort (3-11-1) owned the early lead. Sophomore Kiana Tatum booted in a shot to the back right corner of the net on Lincoln keeper Dallis Brown just six minutes into the game.
Once Lincoln (2-11) finally found the goal, there was no stopping the team.
Less than two minutes after Lane’s goal, Kaiser scored the first of her two goals, House dribbled in and scored on an open goal with 9:52 showing then Otto put up the first of her three goals to make it 4-1 at the half.
Frankfort never threatened the Lincoln lead in the second half.
The Lady Patriots, who outshot the Lady Panthers 20-6 in the first half, would continue their control of the ball with a 21-3 second-half shooting advantage.
“That adrenalin. That determination. Or even that fearfulness of it (season) being near the end. I think that made them play hard,” Estes said. “Frankfort fought hard and got some points on the boards, but the seniors and the girls just came out strong.”
Frankfort’s Kennadie Pritchett would score the opening goal of the second half with a lofting shot just over four minutes in, and then it was all Lincoln again.
After a series of yellow cards against both Lincoln and Frankfort, Kaiser lofted in her own shot with 27:23 to play, and the romp was on. Dennis hit from 10 yards out with 20:31 showing, Otto scored back-to-back goals at the 17:16 and 11:09 marks, then Goetz hit with 4:29 left for the 9-2 final.
Lincoln saluted a total of 10 seniors during pre-game ceremonies Monday, with Taylor Bird, Addie Hogue, Hailey Jeffries, Alyssa McQueen and Cheyenne Releford being recognized alongside Otto, House, Kaiser, Dennis and Goetz.
