Pat runners place 2nd in home meet

STANFORD — The Lincoln County Patriot cross country team fared well in Thursday’s home Death Valley All-Comers meet, finishing as runner-up behind Lee County in the 5K varsity race.
Sophomore Gabe Singleton placed second overall in the race and first for Lincoln.
Other Patriot runners who figured in the team scoring (top five runners) were freshman Bradley Adams (7th overall), sophomore John Sparkman (9th), senior Reed Campbell (11th) and freshman Davis Wardrip (13th). Sophomore Dalton Patterson placed 14th overall, but could not score.
Lee County freshman Brayden Herring turned in the race’s best time, crossing alone at the finish line in 20;06.51. Singleton was the next to cross, posting Lincoln’s top time of 21:44.57.
Adams covered the 3.1-mile distance in 23:04.59, Sparkman’s time was 24:03.28, Campbell finished in 26:17.56 and Wardrip crossed in 29:50.94. Patterson’s time was 32:10.54.
Lee claimed an easy team win, placing seven runners in the top 10 for a team score of 19 points. Lincoln had 41 points
The Lee County girls also placed seven runners in the top 10 to win the team title with 15 points.
Eighth-grader Mayci Godbey ran fourth overall in the girls varsity run and first for Lincoln with a time of 28:33.86 over the 3.1-mile distance.
The winning time in the girls varsity race was 23:58.56, set by Lee County seventh-grader Weslyn McIntosh.
The Lady Patriots did not place as a team with only four runners on course for the meet. Junior Jasmine Steele would place eighth overall with a time of 30:18.64 and freshman Chloe Tillett placed 10th in 32:50.93. Junior Chrissy Mullins was also on course for Lincoln but did not finish.
There would be no runner-up finish for the Lincoln County runners in the middle school races as the teams swept the competition.
Sam Singleton, an eighth-grader, left his competition behind in the boys 4K race, coming to the finish line alone in a time of 15:14.29. It was a 1-2 finish for Lincoln in the race, with Elijah Johnson, a seventh-grader, following Singleton across in a time of 16:50.46.
Lincoln had a team score of 30 to win the middle school boys team title. Boyle County Middle finished as runner-up with 45 points.
Fifth-grader Toby Sallee earned a fifth-place finish in 17:45.83, seventh-grader Tommy Griffin ran sixth in 18:21.45 and sixth-grader Cade Bastin rounded out Lincoln’s scoring runners, finishing 20th in 22:34.21.
The Lincoln girls scored just 20 points to win the team division while Boyle was second with 35 points.
Lake Cumberland seventh-grader Emily Liddle actually won the girls middle school race, but as an unattached runner her time of 17:21.67 did not count in team scoring. First place in the event went to Lincoln eighth-grader Ava Morgan as she was the first school runner crossing the finish line. Her time was 18:08.59.
The Lincoln boys finished 1-2 in their race, but the Lincoln middle school girls scored a 1-2-3-4 finish. Right behind Morgan was eighth-grader Constance Johnson in the runner-up spot in 18:13.93, then came seventh-grader Alexis Slone in third in 18:14.18 and fourth-grader Abigail Bastin crossed in fourth in 19:47.90.
