STANFORD – Terroristic messages on a high school boys restroom wall were discovered Monday morning but school has and will continue as normal, as the threat was not deemed credible, according to administrators.

Parents and staff received a OneCall message Tuesday from Lincoln County High School Principal Michael Godbey with details on the incident.

Godbey said school administrators were made aware of “terroristic messages written on the wall of a boys restroom” on Monday, Sept. 11 and law enforcement was quickly contacted to begin an investigation.

“While we always take these situations very serious, school administration along with law enforcement, determined after substantial consideration that the situation did not represent any danger and school would continue as normal,” the message states.

A day-long investigation by school administrators and local police determined the source of the threats and the situation was “handled immediately per board policy.”

As a result of the investigation, the student could face criminal charges including terroristic threatening.

“These types of situations will not be tolerated and students will be held accountable for these types of actions,” Godbey’s message states. “Rest assured that Lincoln County Schools and Lincoln County High School continues to take every step possible to ensure the safety of our students and staff.”
