A mother and five children were sent to the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center Tuesday morning after they were ejected from a vehicle on Ky. 78 during a rollover accident.

Don Gilliam, director of the Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency, said two of the children were critical, and deputies on the scene told him the mother was “hurt bad.”

“Trauma can take a lot of forms,” Gilliam said.

The youngest of the children was about one-year-old, he said.

Speed appears to be a factor, as well as wet roads.

“That’s always a bad combination,” he said.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Mullins identified the driver of the white minivan as 26-year-old Whitney Berry. Berry was accompanied in the vehicle by her five children – three females and two males.

Mullins said Berry was still critical and on life support, as of Tuesday night, and two of the children had been airlifted with her from Danville to the University of Kentucky hospital in Lexington to be treated.
