STANFORD – Local author Tish (Walker) O’Rea will hold a book reading and signing of her new novel collection, “Elephants At Thanksgiving” (available now on Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle) at The Rabbit Hole in Stanford on Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. The book store is located at 713 E. Main Street in Stanford. 

O’Rea will be available for Q & A and to sign her first novel after the reading.

“Elephants At Thanksgiving” is the first of her trilogy that uses intense narrative and multiple narrative modes to tell a deeply personal story woven around the lives of the members of a single family and a few complete strangers. 

The story touches a chord with readers with its very topical theme and contemporary subject matter. 

O’Rea calls it “Recovery and how to take off your mask. You name it, it’s in the book. Parent abuse, sexual abuse, child abuse, divorce, relationships, careers, nursing home care, jealousy, deceit, pain…just life. And we all have pain, sometimes forever and sometimes enough is enough-you have to heal to grow.”

O’Rea was born in Danville and attended Kentucky State University. Her broadcasting career started in Danville at WHIR, then onto WDAO in Dayton, OH, WJZZ in Detroit, WTLZ in Saginaw, MI , WLKT (94.5), and finally WRVG before retiring from radio. 

She’s co-starred in two off Broadway plays for The  Actors Guild of Lexington and now works full time in sales and finds time to be a motivational speaker to the youth trying to find their way. This is O’rea’s first novel, based on a true story; she is currently starting the second book in her Elephants Series.
