First Responders Appreciation Day

First Responders Appreciation Day will be held Saturday, Sept. 9 at  Lincoln County Veteran’s Park. Music by local musicians and singers beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the First Southern Veteran’s Park. First Responders Prayer/Appreciation Meal at 4 p.m. First responders eat free, general public will be $6 (meal catered by Bullhead BBQ). Sponsored by Spurlin Funeral Home and Hilltop Florist. Bring your own lawn chair. T.J. Hill/Donna Sheron Memorial Fort to Fort Bike Ride. Registration begins at 10 a.m. at Logan’s Fort (end of Martin Luther King Blvd. in Stanford). Kickstands up at 11:30 a.m.  Ride from Logan’s Fort, to Fort Boonesborough, to Fort Harrod and back to Logan’s Fort. Money raised will be given to Shop With A Cop. LH Park Board meeting changed

Due to the Labor Day holiday, the Logan Hubble Park Board will meet Monday, Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Coon Club. Our regular meetings are the first Monday of each month excluding November-February.

United Way Day of Action at LHP

United Way Day of Action will be held Wednesday, Sept. 20,  from 9 a.m. until noon at Logan Hubble Park. We need volunteers to help clean up the park and paint the restrooms inside and out. Sign up www.hkww.org or just show up. Heavy rain/storms cancel.

Youth Fall Fishing Derby

Youth Fall Fishing Derby will be held Saturday, Sept. 30, from 9 a.m. until noon at Logan Hubble Park. All participants need to sign in at the handicapped fishing ramp. Heavy rain/storms cancel.

Ottenheim Community Picnic

The Ottenheim Community Picnic at Immanuel Lutheran Church will be held Sunday, Sept. 3 starting at 1:30 p.m. with a potluck lunch (bring a dish – chicken, drinks, utensils and plates will be provided). Starting at 2 p.m. there will be live music by Just in Tyme; at 3 p.m. there will be a benefit auction (donated items are welcome). Rain or shine – bring your chair and a friend. Donations are welcome to help with upkeep of this historical building. LCHS Class of 1982 to hold reunion

Lincoln County High School Class of 1982 will hold its 35th high school reunion on Saturday, Sept. 9 at Mallards in Danville from 7 p.m.  to midnight. Cost is $10 per person. No reservations required.

Crab Orchard to hold special called meeting

The City of Crab Orchard will hold a Special Called Meeting on Monday, Aug 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Crab Orchard City Hall. The meeting will be to appoint a new Commissioner to fill the current vacancy.

LC Health Department closing early for staff meeting

The Lincoln County Health Department will close at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30 for a staff meeting.

LC Health Department closed for Labor Day

The Lincoln County Health Department will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4 in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

ALS Run set

for Sept. 30

KC’s Gymnastics is sponsoring its first “ALS Run to Remember” on Saturday, Sept. 30 at Millennium Park in Danville. You can register online at www.runsignup.com. There will be a 1 mile Kids Fun Run that starts at 8 a.m. and a 4 mile run/walk race that starts at 8:30 a.m. Kids Fun Run is $5 (no shirt included); 4 mile run/walk is $20 before Sept. 29 and $25 race day. Family rate up to five participants is $50 with only 2 shirts included. Paper registration must be postmarked by Sept. 29 and include payment. Make checks to payable to KC’s Gymnastics. SBDM Council

Waynesburg Elementary’s SBDM will meet on August 24. All meetings will be held at 4 p.m. in the school library.

Hopkins Family Reunion

The 53rd annual Ewell and Ella Saylor Hopkins family reunion will be held Saturday, Sept. 2, in the large pavillion at the William Whitley House near Crab Orchard. The reunion begins at 11 a.m. and then a potluck lunch will be served at noon. Soft drinks and water will be provided. Crab Orchard to hold Fall Cleanup Days 

The City of Crab Orchard will have Fall Clean-Up Days for Residents Within City Limits. Limit one load per customer. It will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept 5 and Sept 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Two dumpsters will be located behind City Hall and all items with the exception of tires, appliances, batteries, paint cans, hazardous waste products, or dead animals will be accepted.

 Crab Orchard Fall City Wide Yard Sale

The City of Crab Orchard will have its annual Fall City Wide Yard Sale on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Aug 31, Sept 1 and 2. No Yard Sale Permits will be required for these days.

Golf Scramble and Golf Ball Drop

Stanford Lions Two Person Golf Scramble and Golf Ball Drop will be held Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Dix River Golf Course, Hwy. 27. Scramble starts at 9 a.m. and golf ball drop will be at 2 p.m. Entry fee for scramble is $130/team and $65/person. Entry deadline is Sept. 5. Entry fee includes golf, cart fees, lunch and prizes. Mulligans sold at $5 each – limit 2 per golfer (sold before play) can be used everywhere except hole #3 and #18.  Longest drive on #4 for both men and women – prizes on all par threes. At least five drives from each golfer must be used. Golf ball drop – 500 balls will be sold at $5 each. A helicopter will drop the balls – the first ball that lands in the hole or closest to the hole will take home $500 (rain date of Sept. 10). LC Farm Bureau meeting and picnic

Lincoln County Farm Bureau will hold its annual meeting and picnic on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Farm Bureau Center and Fairgrounds. Steak Dinner – only $1 per person. Business will include election of directors and officers; and discussion of policy issues and resolutions. Activities will include a magic show, safety demonstration, Case display and member services display. All Farm Bureau member families are encouraged to attend.

Lanigan Family reunion

Lanigan Family Reunion will be held Saturday, Aug. 26 at the Eubank Sr Citizen Center. Begins between 11:30 and noon and will last until 5 or 6 p.m.

Ninth annual Bourbon Chase race seeks Stanford volunteers 

The 9th annual Bourbon Chase race will be held Friday, October 13. Runners  all over the United States and around the world will be coming through Stanford beginning about 7:30 pm until the wee hours of the morning. Volunteers are needed to man crucial route points!  Volunteers are welcome to work an hour or two, or the entire night.  Please call the Chamber for more information (606) 365-4118.

Good Grief Support Group

The Good Grief Support Group will meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the second and last Thursday of each month beginning Sept. 14 at the Lincoln County Public Library. Join our caring, compassionate atmosphere as we share life experience and understanding in times of grief and bereavement. Snacks and coffee will be provided. LC Farmers Market

Lincoln County Farmers Market is now open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day or until sold out. We will have a special community event on Tuesday, July 25 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.. We will be selling fresh veggies all day with special activities for kids from 1 to 4  p.m.- cooking etc. We are located 1/4 mile on 150 going toward Crab Orchard on the left in the Veterans Ball Park. Cedar Creek Sportsman Club

The Cedar Creek Sportsman Club meets every third Tuesday of the month with a meeting and meal. Membership is $60/year.

Lions Club meetings

The Lions Club meets on the first and third Mondays of every month at the Lincoln County Public Library. The public is encouraged to attend and are invited to join the Lions Club.
