At Hustonville Elementary School, one student’s dream has come true.

When Carter Martin was in kindergarten, he loved nothing more than trains, tractors, and to read a good book. After seeing a story on television about Little Free Libraries being built in bigger cities, he declared that he would build one of his own so that everyone in Hustonville could use it.

“Everyone should love to read,” he said.

Now, going into the third grade, Carter’s dream has finally become a reality. He and his father completed his first Little Free Library, filling it with books that Carter donated from his own bookshelf. That Little Free Library now stands in front of Hustonville Elementary School.

Carter’s Little Free Library is for everyone. The idea is to have a place where kids can access books that they are interested in. If they see a book they want, it’s free for them to take. If they have a book (or books) that they’ve read and loved, they can leave the book(s) in the library for others to enjoy.

Carter encourages everyone to stop by and share the love of reading.
