If you are shopping for a baby or are itching for a new book, the two newest businesses on Main Street have you covered.

Although both already had soft openings recently, children’s boutique Blue Monday Pink Tuesday and bookstore The Rabbit Hole will officially be open for business Aug. 1.

Blue Monday Pink Tuesday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony will be 5 p.m. Aug. 1, and The Rabbit Hole’s will be 5:30 p.m. on the same day.

“I encourage everybody to come out and support our local businesses and the great folks who are opening up these stores,” said Andrea Miller, executive director of the Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce. “We certainly appreciate their investment in our community.”

Blue Monday Pink Tuesday, located at 305 W. Main St. where Blue Monday Antiques used to be, offers a selection of different clothing brands for boys and girls from newborns to tweens.

Sadie Durham, 27, noticed Stanford was lacking a children’s boutique while she was working at Morgan’s on Main, so she asked church friend Dawn Day if she would be interested in starting a boutique.

“People came in all the time asking, ‘Is there anywhere for a children’s boutique?’” Durham said. “There’s just not a lot of children’s boutiques around — you can go to Lexington and get the name brands, but we try to have unique items.”

The Rabbit Hole, located at 713 E. Main St. Suite A, features “books (new and used), eclectic gifts, and assorted art,” according to its website.

Like Durham, Mary Phillips, 30, realized the nearest place to find a similar store would be in Lexington, so she and her husband, Dustin, decided to open it as a multipurpose space to connect creative minds.

“I’m an art and book lover, and of course there’s nothing like this around here — even in Danville,” said Phillips, who named the store in honor of her favorite book — “Alice in Wonderland.” “So we wanted to bring a little bit of something kind of artsy and different to the community.”

Blue Monday Pink Tuesday is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
