Carl T. Martin, age 75

Carl T. Martin, age 75, of Stanford, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017 at UK Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
Born Monday, January 19, 1942, in the Turnersville community of Lincoln County, Carl was a son of the late Elmer Lewis and Virginia Kennedy Martin. His loving wife, whom he married April 20, 1962, is Joyce Taylor Martin of Stanford. Carl was a retired Greyhound bus driver and owned Martin Tours for 25 years. He was a member of McKinney Christian Church, the coach of the 1978 South Lexington Little League World Series Baseball Team, and an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. Carl loved bluegrass music and to exercise and was the family historian.
In addition to his wife, Carl leaves behind two sons, Mickey Martin (Ericka) of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and Rodney Martin (Carol) of Lexington; five grandsons, Shayne Martin (Megan) of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Taylor Martin of Lexington, Austin Martin and Trey Martin of Florence, and Brett Wolfe of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; one great granddaughter due in April; three brothers, Powell Martin (Virginia), Fred Martin (Joyce Ann), and Dennis Martin (Regina) all of Stanford; two sisters, Mary Jo Smith of New Salem and Brenda Hensley (Jesse) of Amelia, Ohio; and one sister-in-law, Sue Martin of Stanford.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Russell Martin.
Funeral services were Monday, February 13 at Fox & Friend Funeral Home with Bro. Lewis Walter and John Edwards officiating the service. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Mike Martin, Mark Martin, Bryan Martin, Brady Martin, Shae Martin, and Doug Hensley. Honorary pallbearers were his grandsons, Troy Martin, David Hensley, the 1978 South Lexington Little League World Series Team, Roy Clark, Wimpy Hughes and Danny Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions suggested to Calvary Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 100 John Street, Stanford, KY 40484.
Fox & Friend Funeral Home, Stanford, was entrusted with Carl’s arrangements.
