I tried to have this letter published sooner, but I encountered some technical difficulties. Please forgive me for not having acknowledged all of you much earlier. This is the time of year to give thanks for all of the help received during the year, and there is so much to be thankful for at Fort Logan Cooperative Ministries
In October, DNOW weekend when teens of Lincoln County did treasure hunts to gather food, diapers, hygiene supplies, and cleaning products. The group also gave a substantial monetary donation to our ministry. They are sponsored by First Priority, and they rallied to provide a sign of Christian love and caring.
Lincoln County Baptist Women were challenged to provide hams for Thanksgiving and supplied a total of seventy-five hams. Other churches gave items that filled out a Thanksgiving dinner. Thanks to Mae Renner for coordinating all of this with Durham’s Grocery.
There is something to be said in favor of competition, as Lincoln Manufacturing used prizes to bring in food donations by their employees. They provided a truckload prior to Thanksgiving and another before Christmas. They also took twenty angel names for Christmas.
Next, the Lion’s Club provided a wonderful Christmas musical program in cooperation with Grace Fellowship Church which netted food for both Fort Logan Ministry and Grace Fellowship food pantries. We all know the good that is done by the Lion’s Club, but we sure want to give them a big thank-you for these donations and to bless the members who worked so diligently to provide angel gifts for ten children.
Save-A-Lot sold over 400 food bags to provide food for our shelves. They also provided fifteen food boxes for Christmas.
We certainly want to thank Cash Express for providing toys to enable us to provide Christmas gifts for an extra sixty children this season. This is the second year of generous support from them.
We also want to thank all of the Lincoln County churches that provide food on a monthly basis. However, it isn’t just about big donations. There are also smaller donations made by individuals on a monthly basis that allow us to help those who are in need of food.
The Central Kentucky Karaoke Club raised $1,101 for helping with Christmas. They raffled off items, sometimes 3 or 4 times, and gave from their hearts for our children. What a treat for all of us.
Last, but not least, are my volunteers who work behind the scene to bag groceries, straighten up the messes, and give me physical and moral support. If you see Barbara Atwood, Linda Baird, Rita Faulkner, Judy Leathers, Jamie Mingo, or Barbara Saufley, tell them thanks for all they do in providing help at the ministry.
I hope our gratitude is evident in this letter. I also hope you will pray for our ministry, as well as the people we help. There are so many who need your prayers. If I have left anyone out, please forgive me.
I end this note by praying that all of you experience God’s grace this year.
