Carnes Top 12 Finalist at State DYW

Madison Carnes, Lincoln County’s Distinguished Young Woman (DYW) winner, represented the local program well at the 2017 Kentucky DYW Friday and Saturday at the Singletary Center for the Arts in Lexington. Carnes, a Danville Christian Academy senior, won scholarship money at the state level as a Top 12 Finalist in the program and also as the runner-up in the My Town film competition. Carnes, who performed an Irish dance for the talent preliminaries and finals, is the daughter of Stan and Heidi Carnes of Stanford. As a new addition to the state program, each of the 31 DYW participants had a Little Sister to present during the program. Carnes chose Jesse Friend as her “Little.” Friend is the daughter of John David and Mary Friend of Stanford.
