Happy New Year! I’m back and I thank God for allowing us or should I say blessing all of us to enter into the year of 2017. Giving “thanks” is always a blessing. Say “Amen” if you will. My advice to all that are reading these notes is to continue to love one another and those that won’t love, let’s pray for them that God will prick their hearts. What’s love got to do with it? – Everything!
The annual Martin Luther King birthday celebration will be held Monday, Jan. 16 at noon at the Lincoln County courthouse with a short program and then a march to First Missionary Baptist Church on Martin Luther King Street where Rev. Floyd Raglin is the pastor. Rev. Reginald Pullums, pastor of Bethel AME Church, Boneyville, will be the keynote speaker. Ms. Barthenia Brown is the coordinator. The public is invited to attend.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Mrs. Birdie Mae Smith Stevenson that recently passed. She was the wife of Mr. Melvin Stevenson, a 1951 graduate of the former Lincoln High School. Her funeral was held at the Imani Baptist Church in Lexington.
Mr. Mark Thomas Gooch has recently been dismissed from the U.K. Medical Center and is doing much better.
The annual South District Joint Board Meeting will be held at First Baptist Church, Lancaster, on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 10 a.m. Rev. David McPherson is the host pastor, Rev. Tommy Calhoun is the district moderator.
Ms. Deborah Stewart Moran has been moved to a home in Williamsburg, close to the Tennessee line. She was a patient at Central Baptist Hospital after having a stroke. Mr. Glenn Gooch and Ms. Sandra Hill visited her over the weekend.
Mrs. Pat Brown is doing so much better after being in a car accident. She is now at home.
