LC High School Prom set for April 15

The Lincoln County High School Prom will be held Saturday, April 15. The Youth Services Center is looking for prom dresses, shoes and jewelry to help make sure every young lady has a magical time at the prom. Please call the Lincoln County Chamber for questions or for pick up at (606) 365-4118.

Blood drive in Stanford

Blood donations are the ultimate renewable resource, and area residents are invited to recycle life at the upcoming blood drive. The blood drive is set for Thursday, Jan. 19 from 1 to 6 p.m. in the fellowship room at the Stanford Presbyterian Church, 213 East Main Street. Blood donors must be 17-years-old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org. For more information, call 800-755-2522.

Holiday closing

The Lincoln County Health Department will be closed Monday, Jan. 16 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

LC Chamber to host Business After Hours

Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce will host a Business After Hours at Hometown Dental (formally Dental Associates of Stanford) located at 614 E Main, Stanford on Tuesday, Jan. 17 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tour their state of the art office, meet their staff and register for one of their fabulous door prizes. The public is invited.  LC Health Department to hold

free smoking cessation class

The Lincoln County Health Department is offering the American Lung Association’s Freedom From Smoking program beginning Tuesday, Jan. 24. This is a free 8-week smoking cessation class that is open to anyone living or working in Lincoln County. The nicotine patch will be provided free as well. Classes will start at 5 p.m. at the health department. Registration is required by calling Lee Ann Taylor at the Lincoln County Health Department at (606) 365-3106. You can be a non-smoker!

Miss Danville/Miss Heart of Kentucky Scholarship Organization accepting contestants

The Miss Danville/Miss Heart of Kentucky Scholarship Organization is accepting contestants for the 2017 Pageant to be held Jan. 28 in beautiful Gravely Hall at Danville High School. Explore Tech: Engineers Make a World of Difference: Saturday, Jan. 21- Noon to 2 p.m. Explore Tech is a national traveling exhibition that introduces the role engineers play in our lives. The exhibit features hands-on and multimedia components that allow exhibit visitors to interact with exhibit content in a dynamic way, encouraging new perspectives about engineers and their vital work. Be one of the first to see the exhibit and join in on some fun hands-on activities. Explore Tech: Engineers Make a World of Difference is part of the STAR Library Education Network (STAR_Net) led by the National Center for Interactive Learning at the Space Science Institute. Exhibit partners include the American Library Association, the Lunar and Planetary Institute, and Afterschool Alliance. This new series brings together books and videos featuring authors, scientists, and everyday people who thrive on exploring the natural world. Artful Action Figures: Saturday, Feb. 4 at 12 p.m. Presented by The Living Arts and Science Center, learn to construct a small, bendable figurine, then put your creative, problem-solving powers into action as you form clothing, costumes, and accessories.

Energy in Motion: Saturday, Feb. 11 at 12 p.m. Presented by The Living Arts and Science Center, explore energy on the move in the library! This program features a variety of hands-on experiments and interactive activities based on energy and the food chain, the transformation of energy, circuits, renewable vs. nonrenewable energy sources and much more!
