 LC Health Dept. to begin free smoking cessation class
The Lincoln County Health Department is offering the American Lung Association’s Freedom From Smoking program beginning Tuesday, January 24. This is a free 8-week smoking cessation class that is open to anyone living or working in Lincoln County. The nicotine patch will be provided free as well. Classes will start at 5 p.m. at the health department. Registration is required by calling Lee Ann Taylor at the Lincoln County Health Department at (606) 365-3106.  Make your New Year’s resolution to be smoke-free and call to sign-up today.  You can be a non-smoker!

Ephraim warns of phone scam
Ephraim McDowell Health was made aware of a possible phone scam in Boyle and surrounding counties.  The caller states that they are calling on behalf of Ephraim McDowell and offering free medical services if the individual will confirm their identity. Please know Ephraim McDowell Health is not making these calls and you should simply hang up on the caller without providing any personal information.

First Southern Christmas
Customer Appreciation
First Southern National Bank will hold a Christmas Customer Appreciation on Friday, Dec. 23 at both branches. Hot cider and refreshments will be available all day. Bring the kids and your camera, Santa will be onsite at the Vincent Drive branch from 2 to 4:30 p.m.

Holiday closings
•Stanford City Hall will be closed Friday, Dec. 23, Monday, Dec. 26 and Friday, Dec. 30 for the holidays. City Hall will be open on Monday, Jan. 2.
•Lincoln County Public Library will be closed Saturday, Dec. 24 through Monday, Dec. 26 and Saturday, Dec. 31 through Monday, Jan. 2 for the holidays
•The Lincoln County Health Department will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 and Monday, Dec. 26 and Friday, Dec. 30 and Monday, Jan. 2 for the holidays.
•The Lincoln County Circuit Clerk’s office will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Dec. 26 for the Christmas holiday.

Miss Danville/Miss Heart of Kentucky Scholarship Organization accepting contestants
This Miss Danville/Miss Heart of Kentucky Scholarship Organization is accepting contestants for the 2017 Pageant to be held January 28, 2017 in beautiful Gravely Hall at Danville High School. This event is for girls and young women from 3 years of age to 24 years of age. For application or information, please email Missdanville@gmail.com or contact Susan Smith Parks at (859) 319-8427. The Miss Danville/Miss Heart of Kentucky Organization is a part of the Miss Kentucky and Miss America Scholarship Organization. The Miss America Organization is the largest provider of scholarships to young women in the world today.

Cedar Creek Sportsman
Club meetings
The Cedar Creek Sportsman Club meets every third Tuesday of the month with a meeting and meal. Membership is $60/year. Anyone wanting to rent building, please contact Phyllis Adams at (606) 355-0276.
Stanford Rotary Club meetings
The Stanford Rotary Club meets most Mondays at noon, at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant.  Anyone is welcome to attend.

Hours for the Lincoln County Library are: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday – 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Get Crafty at the Library
I Can’t Adult Day: Friday, Dec. 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. In all the hustle and bustle have you taken time for yourself? Stop by the library and join Jimmie Lou, Adult Program Coordinator, for cookies, cider, Christmas music and stress relieving coloring. Feel free to bring your own craft or last minute present you are working on and enjoy some time for yourself before Christmas company comes for the holiday feast.
Pushing the Limits: Unleash your mind. Explore and get involved in ideas about nature, connections, survival and knowledge. This new series brings together books and videos featuring authors, scientists, and everyday people who thrive on exploring the natural world. (Nature: January 26th at 6 p.m. – featured title “When the Killing’s Done by T. C. Boyle and February 28 at 6 p.m. featured title  Arctic Drift by Clive Cussler.) 
Crochet Club: Cancelled for December. Next meeting Saturday, Jan. 14.
