Rev. Quentin’s sermon was “Advent, The Season of Waiting: Elizabeth and Zechariah,” ref scripture Luke 1:5-23. Have you been waiting a long, long time for a miracle or a prayer to be answered? The couple in this scripture, like us, asked “God, where are you?” Even though they had these questions and doubts, they are our example of how to wait on God.
We are to serve others as we wait, whether it be waiting on a job promotion, an adoption to go through, or an illness to be cured. When we worry and fret, life is passing us by. Look around because God could be answering our prayers in a way that we don’t even realize. Serve-Look-See God at work around us.
Dates to remember:
•Annual Christmas concert 7 p.m. Friday, Dec 2 at Grace Fellowship, organized by Stanford Lions Club to feed the hungry in Lincoln County. Non-perishable food is the only admission fee!
•Wednesdays, Advent Study for children and adults from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The children are asking for old Christmas mugs so they can fill with candy for elderly folks in our county during this Bible study.

Mission Work:
•Highland ladies are collecting “emergency” clothing through December for Highland School K-1st graders. New boy’s and girl’s undergarments and used or new sweat pants and socks.
•Ladies are collecting items no longer needed for catastrophe victims in our county. Anything from towels to pots and pans.
•We are accepting cash donations to help pay monthly utilities of the men’s homeless shelter in Stanford. Even coins and $1 at a time helps.
Prayer concerns:
Betty Jo Singleton, the Violet Maybrier Smith family, Max Nelson, Scot Cheetham, Aileen Berry, Buddy Young and Jay Shull.
Bridgette Singleton said that Betty Jo had some excitement at her temporary home. Someone left the door open and a squirrel ran into Betty Jo’s room! Very frightening for her at the time, throwing pillows and screaming, but a good laugh once the critter was chased out.
