St. Sylvester Church held its October 30 Halloween party on Sunday evening. Seems everyone had a good time and enjoyed being together at the pizza party.
Ronnie and Velma Miracle had the misfortune to lose their combine due to fire while combining their soybeans. The dust from the beans is very dry, the combine gets hots and ignites the trash. We were sorry to hear about this.
If you want to plan ahead for this year’s Christmas gathering at the Lutheran Church in Ottenheim, it will be held Sunday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. This year a bluegrass band will be playing and singing. Mark your calendars and plan to start the Christmas season with us.
There is one radio station that has started playing Christmas music already. It sounds weird hearing nothing but Christmas carols in 80 degree weather and so early!
Thanks to those who helped the group pick up trash for cash for the Lutheran Church. They were Susanne and Jerry Zwahlen, Barbara Bastin, Carolyn Marks, Pauline Bradshaw and Eunice Schlappi. This is a way to raise money for the historical church. Thanks!
The 1956 graduating class of the old Memorial High School held a reunion at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant, Saturday, Nov. 5. It was our 60th year anniversary. It was mostly all the ones who lived around in the area. Those present were: Roxie (Adams) Loveless, Lenora (Cornett) Bowman, Marie (Correll) Bonner, Lorraine (Hughes) McKinney, Dorothea (Link) Schlappi, Deweilla (Long) Holtzclaw, Mildred (New) Mullins, Helen (Padgett) Leigh, Carlos Leigh, Mary C. (Schuler) Baker, Betty (Thompson) Phillips, Muriel (Thompson) Stephens and three guests, Robert Loveless, Debbie – Muriel’s daughter and Herman Cornett. Everyone had a good time and we aim to meet once a year from now on. Thanks!
Thanks to those who volunteered to pickup trash for cash for St. Sylvester Church. They were Mary, Shelby, Kaylynn Smith, Johnny Bratcher, Eileen Sneed, Debbie, Bud, Steven Schuler, Keith Lemons, Emily Abee, Garland Elkins, Mike Link, Eunice and Dorothea Schlappi. We would also like to thank the program for helping us to raise money for the charities.
So many people tell me they like to read the IJ paper to see the local news. I am glad we still have a paper that caters to the home folks. It’s one way of keeping in touch. Thanks!
We have not had a killing frost, as the roses and other flowers are in full bloom. I have late bushes of tomatoes and peppers, they are full of green tomatoes. Even if they don’t ripen they’ll taste good in a tomato pie or green fried. This time of year everything tastes better fresh.
Election will be over by the time this is in the paper. The times are critical in our country and we need God’s help more now than ever. Pray our new leaders will put us back on track. 
All we can say about life is, enjoy the good God gives us each day and appreciate it.
