29th annual Big Blue Crush
blood drive
Kentucky fans can bleed blue, save a Kentucky patient’s life and help beat Tennessee in the 29th annual Big Blue Crush, Nov. 14-18. The blood battle between Kentucky Blood Center and Medic Regional Blood Center in Knoxville pits fans of the Cats and the Volunteers to see who can donate the most blood the week before Thanksgiving. Everyone who registers to donate during Crush will receive a Big Blue Crush T-shirt and a chance to win two tickets to the Kentucky-Louisville football game on Nov. 26 in Louisville. So get out and donate at the blood drive scheduled for Friday, Nov. 18 from 1 to 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the Stanford Presbyterian Church, 213 East Main Street. Blood donors must be 17-years-old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D., and meet additional requirements.

Breakfast with Santa
Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Lincoln County Extension Office, 104 Metker Trail. Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, drink, photo with Santa. Lincoln County Spelling Bee
Lincoln County Public Schools will hold a County Spelling Bee on Wednesday, Nov. 30.  If you are a Home-School operating in Lincoln County and want to participate, please contact Kendra Mitchell at (606) 365-5775 or kendra.mitchell@lincoln.kyschools.us for more information. All inquiries must be received by Thursday, Nov. 17.

LC Historical Society to hold Christmas dinner
The Lincoln County Historical Society will hold its annual Christmas dinner on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at The Ballroom (located above the Bluebird Cafe -entrance from back). Reservation of $18 per person must be paid in advance by Nov. 25 (make check payable to Lincoln County Historical Society, PO Box 570, Stanford, KY 40484). Guest speaker will be Kent Whitworth, executive director of the Kentucky Historical Society, Frankfort.

LC Health Department closings
The Lincoln County Health Department will be closed Friday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day and will close Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 3:30 p.m. for a staff meeting.

Veteran’s Day BBQ Fundraiser 
A BBQ luncheon will be held Friday, Nov. 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to help raise money for the Stanford Fire Department, Stanford Police Department and Lincoln County Sheriff’s office. The meal will consist of a BBQ sandwich, cole slaw, chips, dessert and a drink. $10 per meal. This is being held by Safe Community and H.O.P.E. The proceeds will go for a defibrillator for fire department, updated system for Sheriff’s office and Narcan for Stanford Police Department. We we also recognize our veterans.

Veterans Appreciation Luncheon

Benefit Chili Supper, Silent Auction for Bobby Wilburn
A benefit chili supper and silent auction will be held Saturday, Nov. 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lincoln County Fire Station No. 3 located at 4430 Hwy. 2141 in Moreland. The meal will include chili, a sandwich, crackers and a drink for $5. Desserts will also be available. All proceeds will go to the Wilburn family. Grand Opening at My Town Realty
My Town Realty owned by Yolanda Smith, will be having its grand opening and ribbon cutting on Tuesday, Nov. 15 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. My Town Realty is located at 45 Lacy Street, across from Save-A-Lot in  Stanford. The ribbon cutting is at 5. Refreshments will be served.

LC Democrat Woman’s Club to meet
The Lincoln County Democrat Woman’s Club will meet Thursday, Nov. 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant in Stanford. Everyone is invited to attend. For any questions call (606) 346-3211.

Lincoln County Bark for Life
Lincoln County Bark for Life is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 13 at Veteran’s Park from 2 to 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Bring your doggies (must be on a leash) or just come and love on them. We invite cancer survivors to come out and walk with us and we will be recognizing cancer survivors and those who have lost the fight in our in honor and an in memory ceremony. This is a family friendly event for the entire family. Our team will be set for Santa Paws pictures, hot chocolate bar,  bake sales, hot dogs, caramel apples, face painting, and more. LC Retired Teachers to meet
The Lincoln County Retired Teachers will have their holiday meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center. We will begin at 11:30 a.m. with our holiday meal. Our service project is to bring non-perishable food items for Fort Logan Ministries. Come join us in the last food and fellowship.

Parks and Rec. 6th-8th grade Basketball registration
Lincoln County Parks & Recreation is holding their 6th-8th Grade Rec league Basketball registration through November 28. This is a co-ed league for anyone in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade.  You can register in the park office Monday-Friday 9AM-1PM or online at lincolncountyparks.org.  Cost is $45.
