City of Stanford will start its leaf pickup Monday, Oct. 31. Call (859) 749-2559 to arrange pickup.

Heritage Hospice 3rd Annual Tea and Treasures
Tea will be provided by Elmwood Inn and this unique event will feature savory foods and sweet treats. The Tea and Treasures event will be held Saturday, Nov. 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church located at 1441 Perryville Road, Danville. Decorated tabletops will be auctioned to the highest bidder and decorated theme baskets will be new this year. Tickets are $25 each and a group may reserve a table for eight for $200. Doors open at noon for silent auction. All proceeds benefit Heritage Hospice. Crab Orchard Elementary School
to hold fall festival
Crab Orchard Elementary School will hold its fall festival on Friday, Nov. 4. Games will be from 5 to 6 :30 p.m. The hot dog/chili dog supper will begin at 5 p.m. and run until the food is gone. A live auction with auctioneer Homer Day will start at 6:30 p.m. There will be lots of games and activities for the whole family. Tickets for games are 4/$1. Adult meal includes 2 chili dogs or hot dogs, chips, drink and dessert for $5. A child’s meal includes 1 chili dog or hot dog, chips, drink and dessert for $4. Extra food will be sold for an additional cost. All proceeds go toward school supplies. KNOA will be set up. Cash/check sales only.

“Drop your Drawers” at the
Lincoln Public Library
During the month of November the Lincoln County Public Library will be collecting new packages of underwear.  These will be given to the Family Resource Centers in Lincoln County to build up the supplies of emergency underpants. A mixture of boys and girls sizes as well as adult sizes are needed. 

Shop Small Holiday Market
A Shop Small Holiday Market will be held Saturday, Nov. 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lancaster Church of the Nazarene, 131 Victory Lane in Lancaster. Crafts, vendors, food. Everyone welcome.

City of Stanford Trick or Treat hours
The City of Stanford Trick or Treat hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31.

Trick or Treat at the Stanford Drive-In
The Lincoln County Chamber Safe Trick or Treat will be held beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, at the Stanford Drive In. Come out for some great trick or treating, concessions stand will be open, movie at dusk. Call Denise for questions, (859) 749-5740.

Countywide Holiday House Decorating Contest 
The Stanford Lion’s Club is inviting Lincoln County homeowners to enter a 2016 countywide holiday house decorating contest. To enter the contest, homeowners must fill out an application which includes their name, address, and signature giving permission to publicize their information on WPBK-FM and/or in The Interior Journal as a competitor, as well as have pictures taken. If selected as a winner, a sign will be placed in the yard depicting the selection by the Lions Club. Registration is $15 and can be mailed with the application to: Lions Club, P.O. Box 143, Stanford, Ky. 40484. The contest is for Lincoln County residents only. Deadline to register is Dec. 1 and judging will occur on Dec. 9-11 between 5 and 10 p.m. Applications can be found at the Lincoln County Veterans Outreach Center, the Lincoln County Public Library or at The Interior Journal office. 

Trash for Cash Program
Earn $$$ for your non-profit, school or church group by cleaning roadsides in Lincoln County during the week of Oct. 31-Nov 6. Signups are Monday, Oct. 24 at 8 a.m. at the Lincoln County Recycling Center (please use South entrance on Hwy. 27. Space is limited and groups will be processed on a first-come first-service basis. LC Health Department to close
for Veterans Day
The Lincoln County Health Department will be closed Friday, Nov. 11 in observance of the Veterans Day holiday.

Butchertown Community Center to
hold chili supper
There will be a Chili Supper on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Butchertown Community Center.  The chili supper will start at 5:30 p.m. We will have available homemade chili (regular and spicy), crackers, pimento cheese, hot dogs with or without homemade chili, homemade desserts, and soft drinks or water. There will be an auction of handmade items (crafts, cakes, pies, etc.) after we eat. We will have calendars and cookbooks available that night as well. All proceeds from the chili supper will benefit the Butchertown Community Center.

Lincoln County Farm Bureau fruit orders
It’s time to order your fruits and nuts from Farm Bureau. Lincoln County Farm Bureau is once again offering fruits and nuts for sale to the Farm Bureau members. Order forms are available at the Farm Bureau offices in Stanford and Moreland. Orders will be accepted through November 2, 2016.

Christmas parade royalty
Applications are now being taken for the Christmas Parade Royalty. Categories are Princess ages 4-6, Duchess ages 7-9, and Countess 10-middle school. Interviews will be held Thursday, Dec.1 beginning at 6 p m.  LC Health Department closed for Election Day
The Lincoln County Health Department will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 8 due to the presidential election.

William Whitley House Halloween Spooktacular and Wicked Trail of Fear
The William Whitley House Halloween Spooktacular and Whitley’s Wicked Trail of Fear will be held Saturday, Oct. 29. Activities will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a Halloween Spooktacular including costume contests, music, dance, hayride and other family friendly fun. The haunted trail will begin at dark and may not be for the little ones. Admission is $5 and includes the family fun event and the haunted trail. Voices of Hope Overdose Response Training
Voices of Hope Overdose Response Training will be held Tuesday, Nov 15 at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library. Training includes: how to recognize an overdose, who is at risk for an overdose, Kentucky Good Samaritan Law and how to respond to an overdose. Stanford Water flushing hydrants
The City of Stanford Waterworks employees will be flushing hydrants throughout the system starting Monday, Oct. 24  from 6 a.m. through 5 p.m. Flushing will continue through Friday, Oct. 28. Customers may experience discoloration in the water and should refrain from washing clothes at this time. Customers can turn on their faucets to clear up any discolored water. 

Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary to sponsor annual Christmas Bazaar
The Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary is sponsoring its annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Stanford Baptist Church Christian Life Center, located at 204 Church Street. This will be a great opportunity to start your Christmas shopping with many vendors in one location! Some of the vendors include: Origami Owl, Southern Stitched, A&L Accessories, Scentsy, Just Jewelry and Boutique, Pink Zebra, Southern Charm, Martha Bastin, Teri Arn, Karen Hoorman, Tammy French, Hilltop Florist, Thirty-One, Janet Greer, Tastefully Simple, Janice Young, Stacey Erlandson, Kim Jones, Usborne Books, Candice Hensley and Kendra Mitchell. The Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary will also be having a hot dog luncheon that includes a topping bar, chips, cookies and drink for $6.

Sixth annual Pollyann Ridge Reunion

Stanford Fire Department offering EMT class
Stanford Fire Department’s fall 2016 Emergency Medical Technician Class will begin Monday, Oct. 3. Classes will be held Monday – Wednesday each week from 8 a.m. to noon. Party at the Park
Party at the Park – Thriller Thursday has been postponed due to an inclement weather forecast. Party at the Park will be held Thursday, Oct. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at First Southern Veteran’s Park Soccer Complex, 400 Hwy.150 East, Stanford. (Rain cancels). Fun! Fun! Fun! Events include: Costume Contest for ages 0-5 and 5-12 with prizes for first, second and third place in each age group. Judging at 7 p.m.; Face Painting; BYOP – Bring your own pumpkin painting; Music and Dancing including a Thriller Flash Mob; and Concessions sold by Lincoln Co. FFA; Give-A-Ways. All activities are free. Smoking and pets are prohibited at this event.

Cedar Creek Sportsman Club meetings
The Cedar Creek Sportsman Club meets every third Tuesday of the month with a meeting and meal. Membership is $60/year. Anyone wanting to rent building, please contact Phyllis Adams at (606) 355-0276.

Join our Walking Program
Join us for a Walking Program to increase your physical activity from Sept. 12 through Nov. 7. Meeting times are 12:15 to 12:50 p.m. at the Community Building at the Soccer Complex. Instructor will be Rita Stewart. Participants will meet once a week and walk. Members will walk at their own pace and will not be competing with others in the program. While doing so, we will also learn about the importance of walking and other forms of cardiovascular activity in our daily routines. Participants will be asked to keep a walking log and to turn that log in at the end of this program. End of program drawings will be done for all participants who successfully complete the program. Cooperating sponsor is Lincoln County Parks and Recreation. Call the Lincoln County Extension Office at (606) 365-2447 to register.

• Murder Mystery: Murder at the Walgrave Astoria: Teens and Adults are invited to join us for our interactive Murder Mystery to be held Thursday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m.  Participants will be assigned characters and will work together to solve a murder at the Walgrave Astoria.  This will be a fun Halloween Costume Ball.  Registration is required for this event by Saturday, Oct. 15. •Short & Sweet Desserts: Just in time for the holidays! On Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. Rita Stewart from the Lincoln County Extension Office will show us several new and different desserts that we can serve throughout the holiday seasons and the new year. •Crochet Club: The Crochet Club will meet Saturday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. This is open to all individuals interested in crochet, advanced, beginners and those wanting to learn. Bring your own crochet hook and yarn. Call Nona at (606) 669-3136.
•Happy Scrappers – Crafting Club will meet Saturday, Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring your scrapbook or craft projects and supplies. If you are new to the group, bring pictures, scissors, acid free glue and a sack lunch including a drink. There is no cost to join the group. Free and open to all ages.
• Zentangle: Come enjoy creating a Zentangle project on Thursday, Nov. 17 from 10 to noon.  Learn drawing techniques, enjoy getting together and relax with the stress relieving meditative music.  For those who prefer to color, we will have those available as well.
