William Whitley House Halloween Spooktacular and Wicked Trail of Fear
The William Whitley House Halloween Spooktacular and Whitley’s Wicked Trail of Fear will be held Saturday, Oct. 29. Activities will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a Halloween Spooktacular including costume contests, music, dance, hayride and other family friendly fun. The haunted trail will begin at dark and may not be for the little ones. Admission is $5 and includes the family fun event and the haunted trail. Voices of Hope Overdose Response Training
Voices of Hope Overdose Response Training will be held Tuesday, Nov 15 at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library. Training includes: how to recognize an overdose, who is at risk for an overdose, Kentucky Good Samaritan Law and how to respond to an overdose. Stanford Water flushing hydrants
The City of Stanford Waterworks employees will be flushing hydrants throughout the system starting Monday, Oct. 24 from 6 a.m. through 5 p.m. Flushing will continue through Friday, Oct. 28. Customers may experience discoloration in the water and should refrain from washing clothes at this time. Customers can turn on their faucets to clear up any discolored water.

Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary to sponsor annual Christmas Bazaar
The Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary is sponsoring its annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Stanford Baptist Church Christian Life Center, located at 204 Church Street. This will be a great opportunity to start your Christmas shopping with many vendors in one location! Blood Drive scheduled for Oct. 20
Area residents are invited to be life-savers at an upcoming blood drive scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 20 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Stanford Presbyterian Church in the fellowship hall located at 213 East Main Street in Stanford. Donors will receive a non-fasting cholesterol test. Results will be posted within five days after the blood drive at kybloodcenter.org. Blood donors must be 17-years-old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. A two day church sponsored community yard and bake sale in Ottenheim, Hwy. 643, 4 1/2 miles from Halls Gap at St. Sylvester Church will be held Friday, Oct. 14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, Oct 15 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. All items have not been in a yard sale before. LC Retired Teachers to meet
Lincoln County Retired Teachers will meet Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center at 11:30 a.m. We will enjoy a potluck lunch, then we’ll be given health insurance updates and changes. Our service project is to bring items for the school backpack program. These items will be shared with a Family Resource Center in our county. We want all retired teachers to come and join us in a fellowship and informative time together.

Cedar Creek Sportsman annual fish fry
Cedar Creek Sportsman’s Club’s annual fish fry will be held Saturday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children five to 12 and four and under are free. Menu includes fish, hush puppies, potato wedges, cole slaw, dessert and drink. Will have a $500 cash raffle, four tickets to Noah’s Ark Park raffle and gun raffle. The Nature’s Thyme Herb Group October meeting has been changed and turned into a field trip! Erin from Sassa Bella is opening up her store just for us. We will be taking home an 8oz. body lotion, that you custom scent and make, and a 2 oz. body butter stick. Party at the Park

Forkland Festival play, race tickets available online
The Forkland Community Center has now setup a system for the purchase of dinner and play tickets for the Oct. 14 and 15 Forkland Heritage Festival and Revue. There are three types of tickets for each night of the festival: Drama Only (no dinner included), Bean Supper and Drama, and Potato Soup Supper and Drama. To purchase tickets for Friday night, select the Oct. 14 event labelled Friday night. To purchase tickets for Saturday night, select the Oct. 15 event labelled Saturday night. After selecting the event with the correct date and day, press “Buy tickets” and you will see the three ticket choices.

LC Health Department to begin free smoking cessation class
The Lincoln County Health Department is offering the American Lung Association’s Freedom From Smoking program. This is a free 8-week smoking cessation class that is open to anyone living or working in Lincoln County. The nicotine patch will be provided free as well. The class begins Sept. 20 and will meet each Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Lincoln County Health Department. Registration is required by calling Lee Ann Taylor at the health department at (606) 365-3106.

Join our Walking Program
Join us for a Walking Program to increase your physical activity from Sept. 12 through Nov. 7. Meeting times are 12:15 to 12:50 p.m. at the Community Building at the Soccer Complex. Instructor will be Rita Stewart. Participants will meet once a week and walk. Members will walk at their own pace and will not be competing with others in the program. While doing so, we will also learn about the importance of walking and other forms of cardiovascular activity in our daily routines. Participants will be asked to keep a walking log and to turn that log in at the end of this program. End of program drawings will be done for all participants who successfully complete the program. Upward Basketball and Cheer Fall League
Stanford Baptist Church is holding an Upward Basketball and Cheer League. Final registration date is October 15 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Stanford Baptist Christian Life Center or you can register Monday-Friday at the church office from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost for the league is $60. The league is for ages 4 year olds through the eighth grade. Upward Sports athletes experience the 360 Progression, which is a uniquely designed sports experience that develops the total athlete mentally, athletically, spiritually, and socially. It is modeled in Luke 2:52 – “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” The 360 Progression helps young athletes discover and develop the skills they need to perform both on and off the field or court. Bluegrass Stockyards Restaurant extending hours
The Bluegrass Stockyards Restaurant now as extended hours. They are open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and later on sale days. They are also open every third Friday night of each month. The restaurant serves breakfast and plate lunches.
