STANFORD – A man was arrested on drug-related charges after he allegedly fell asleep at the wheel and struck a utility pole with drugs in his possession. 
Stanford K9 Officer Preston Middleton arrested James Mondie, 46, of Somerset, on Sept. 18 at about 3:30 a.m. after first responders found him asleep behind the wheel of a 2007 Pontiac G6 after it had struck a utility pole. 
“Mondie was traveling west on Main Street, near Logan Avenue, when he fell asleep behind the wheel,” Middleton said.  
Mondie then struck the utility pole and the vehicle came to a rest on Whitley Avenue.  
Middleton said a bag of marijuana was found laying outside of the driver’s door, as well as “a small baggie of what appeared to be methamphetamine.”
Also found in Mondie’s possession was another small baggie of what appeared to be crystal methamphetatmine. 
Mondie was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence; possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine); possession of marijuana; and failure of owner to maintain required insurance. 
Also assisting on scene was Lincoln County EMS and the Stanford Fire Department. 
Mondie was lodged in the Lincoln County Regional Jail on Sept. 18 but has since been released, according to jail records.
