Congratulations to Patrick and Ashley Sullivan who were married Saturday, Sept. 17. He is the son of Billie and Steve Sullivan.
To open the services Sunday, Sept. 18, Ralph and Martha Roberts spoke via video about God’s faithfulness in the growth of our church.
Bro. Kyle’s message was on “Humility” and was taken from 2 Kings 5:1-15. Naaman, a commander of an army, had a skin disease. One day a young slave girl told him about the prophet Elisha. Upon hearing of the problem, Elisha instructed Naaman to wash himself seven times in Jordan.
Insulted by these directions, Naaman left in a rage. Some of his servants convinced him to do as the prophet instructed. He was cured!
We can learn two important things about humility: to be cleansed of our sin we have to humble ourselves and admit there is only one true God and we are not Him!
Our skin disease is our sinfulness. We, like Naaman, try to go our own way instead of following God’s instructions. Ultimately, if we want to be cured, we do things God’s way!
Sympathy and prayers to the following: Sharon Carpenter whose brother Danny passed away last Sunday, Sept. 11; Abraham Tatin whose dad passed away Monday, Sept. 12; and Josh Brown whose granddad Jack Brown passed away last week.
The 100th year anniversary cookbooks are in and may purchased for $6 in the church office.
