Just in case you don’t get enough basketball this month between high school regional and state tournaments and March Madness, Stanford Lions Club President Jan Swett said that her group will be bringing the Harlem Ambassadors show basketball team to the Lincoln County High School gymnasium on March 23.
The world traveling Ambassadors are in town for one night only and will be facing a tough Lincoln County crew that has already been practicing for weeks. The Harlem Ambassadors, unlike the other show basketball team they share a hometown with, is a coed team, so Cassandra McWhorter, Rebecca May, Andrea Miller and Beth Ralston are on the roster to play. One of the Ambassador guards is Danville native and Lindsey Wilson College roundball standout Krystal Jackson.
Swett said that proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Lions charities and the 28th Circuit Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program. Looking for a big turnout, Swett said, “Bring the kids, have a good time and help us raise some money.”
The program has already been sponsored by several Lincoln County businesses, but sponsorship packages that guarantee VIP seating are still available.
In addition to concessions at the game, the Danville O’Charley’s restaurant has agreed to stay open late for a post-game party and autograph session with the players.
Tickets for the game are $10 in advance, and are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased from any Lions Club member, at the Chamber of Commerce, State Farm Insurance and Garstka and Gander. For more information call Jan Swett at (606) 669- 6071 or Jamie Leigh at (606) 669-0430.
