Obituary: Homer Shelton, Jr., 71
February 25, 2010

Homer Shelton, Jr., 71, of Crab Orchard, died Monday, Feb. 22 at his home.

Born in Garrard County on Dec. 26, 1938, he was a son of the late Homer and Ruby Christine Ledford Shelton. He was a designer at IBM for over 30 years, a Navy veteran and a member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Illene Shelton.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie Keeling Shelton of Crab Orchard; sons, Kevin (Tammy) Shelton and Monte Shelton (companion, Angela) of Crab Orchard; stepsons, Jerry (Shauna) Perkins of Harrodsburg and Llyric Perkins (companion, Heather) of Lexington; sister, Nerissa (Johnny) Baker of Crab Orchard; and four grandchildren, Logan, Lucas, Chase and Keesha Shelton.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today (Feb. 25) at McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard with Bro. Tony Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilmot Cemetery.

Active pallbearers are Bud Saylor, John Baker, Clarence Shelton, Dennis and Earl Baker and Jimmy Baker, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Blanton and Colson Wilson.

Military rites by Caswell Saufley of the American Legion at the gravesite.
