Obituary: John W. Lasure, 70
February 11, 2010

John W. Lasure, 70, of Stanford, died Sunday, Feb. 7 at his home.

Born March 23, 1939, he was a son of the late Manles and Grace Lasure. Lasure was a retired employee for the city of Stanford, member of the Stanford Baptist Church and an avid collector, gardener and sportsman.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Elvin Lasure; and two sisters, Louvenia Douglas and Florence Misenheimer.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Lasure; two daughters, Cindy (Travis) Hancock and Jennifer (Toney) Turner both of Stanford; sisters, Thelma Sebastian of Stanford, Alberta Wood of Danville and Mary Still of Louisville; brothers, Charles E. Lasure of St. Cloud, Fla., Manles Lasure, Jr. and Paul A. Lasure both of Stanford and R. Carter Lasure of Bardstown; three grandchildren, Nikki Wilson and Jacob and Morgan Turner; and a great grandson, Riley Walls.

Funeral services were Feb. 10 at Spurlin Funeral Home with Rev. Max Hester officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Craig and Walter Roark, Charlie Trent, Mark Turner, Troy Johnson and Jimmy Floyd. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Moser, Dickie Faulkner, Rodman Bradshaw and his nephew.
