Day of Caring set for September 23
September 10, 2009

On Wednesday, September 23, 2009, Lincoln County will be brimming over with folks sporting work clothes, gloves, rakes, weed eaters and big hearts and giving spirits. September 23 is the United Way Day of Caring.

Day of Caring is a special day designed to bring volunteers from Lincoln, Garrard, Boyle, Mercer and other surrounding counties together to work on project s that benefit the communities and the agencies that receive funds and support from the Heart of Kentucky United Way.

Volunteers will gather at the historic L&N Depot in Stanford before heading out to pre-approved projects across the county ranging from mowing, weed eating, general cleaning and landscaping to much larger projects including minor roof repairs, plumbing, construction and everything in between.

“Day of Caring is a good opportunity to give a little back to the non-profit agencies that provide so many services in our county every day of the year,” said Ruth Smith, Lincoln County’s 2009 Day of Caring chairperson. “All of the projects that will be completed on September 23 will be accomplished because of the hundreds of volunteers who are willing to donate their time and talents to the projects.”

A total of over 500 volunteers will work September 23 with other groups starting out at Constitution Square in Danville and Anderson-Dean Park in Mercer County. The day ends with a lunch for all of the volunteers at Millennium Park in Danville.
